The impressionist style of painting is characterized chiefly by concentration on the general impression produced by a scene or object.
The impressionist painters revolutionized art by painting outdoor scenes with the different effects of time of day and weather. Before then, paintings were all in the perfect settings. The sky was usually blue. The weather was always perfect. Even with portraits, everything in the background was perfectly placed.
The impressionist started the process of bringing realism into paintings. They were resoundly rejected by the artist community in their day, but today their art is some of the most revered.
This brings to mind what I would call Apostolic impressionists. These are Apostolics that outsiders can look at as being real in their daily look and interactions.
They don’t come across as being perfect, but they are recognized as being genuine.
The average person gets an impression that these folks are real Christians, but not judgmental in their interactions with others.
They blend in with the culture of the area, and only stand out because of their love towards others in the community and dedication to the things of God.
Are you an Apostolic impressionist?
