Re: IHOP (International House of Prayer)
IHOP'S strength is in its end time doctrine. They are the only major (in size) Church teaching the post tribulation rapture. They also teach a good discipleship message and even have a better understanding than most on Perfection and Holiness.
It is a young Church mostly people in their 20's and 30's. Misty Edwards attends there as a worship leader. She is the best Christian Musician of my lifetime. There are other good worship teams there also. The praise and worship no doubt draws many to them.
Look at the end of the article and you will see they have many outreach ministries.
On the negative side they are true Trinitarians.

When I was mentally challenged in the early 90's as to what to pray for, because I did not know exactly what to pray for as I ought, I prayed mostly always in tongues and with the opportunity to pray with the effectual fervent manner...periodically I would receive instructions from the Holy Spirit..

Re: IHOP (International House of Prayer)
they are a cult.
they damage alot of folks but have good PR.
just look up the horror stories of ex-members who gave it all and had the marrow sucked out of their bones.

Re: IHOP (International House of Prayer)
IHOP is as good as it gets for a Charismatic, Trinitarian Church. The "horror stories" are usually very vague or sometimes complaints that are basically against the discipleship teaching and rigerous Christian lifestyle required of IHOP Interns.
Many Charismatic believers are being brought into a deeper walk with Jesus through IHOP.

i agree mtd, i looked up "ihop cult" and the accusations were vague or complaints of the rigours such as fasting by someone who was an intern. i read where bickle and his wife have lots of land in their name and not the church's. i also read that bickle, misty and other staff have large salaries, but i didn't read actual figures.

I had business in KC around 5 years ago. It was fantastic in that towards the end of the week, they have Fri and Sat night services every week. No signs of a cult. They were into expressive worship and maybe a little less strict on doctrine. I recomend they many times over any of the declining old line protestant churches.

The word "cult" means different things to different people; it's a vague term. Oneness Pentecostalism is often referred to as a cult. For example: http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Only-Chu...1262764&sr=8-1
Personally, I dislike the term.
