Question How should Pastors deal with contemporary issues?

I would like to see your views on what Pastors (Shepherd) authority / responsibility should be on dealing with issues faces the church / flock today.

What would we follow as sheep knowing they are trying to protect us from harm.

How far should this be taken afterwards in making this a biblical doctrine equivalent to what is explicitly written in the Word of God.

These may be principles derived but used for issues that apply to their generation.

When should these items be revisited and reviewed for applicability in years following.

1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

What items separate us from the world and make us different?

2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Contemporary issues must be approached balancing what is scriptural and what is just tradition. Traditions change from generation to generation. Whatever issue you face must line up with the word of God.

Re: How should Pastors deal with contemporary issu

There are things we have to deal with today that are not specifically dealt with in the Bible. The Israelites had to deal with issues of their day that don't even apply today but were points of great argumentation amongst them. They thought these were heaven and hell issues. These were issues about the Law of Moses and how best to observe them.

The Pharisees believed in the strictest adherence to the Word of God and were the ones most severely chastised when Jesus was on earth.

Joh 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Mat 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Re: How should Pastors deal with contemporary issu

One of the factors that distinguished the Pharisees from other groups prior to the destruction of the Temple was their belief that all Jews had to observe the purity laws (which applied to the Temple service) outside the Temple. The major difference, however, was the continued adherence of the Pharisees to the laws and traditions of the Jewish people in the face of assimilation. As Josephus noted, the Pharisees were considered the most expert and accurate expositors of Jewish law.

A pastor is required to pray and ask God for guidance in dealing with satans attack against the church. Satan will use different tools to draw away the saints. A pastor is to preach against these methods. When does this become a commandment of God rather than a doctrine of man. Is there anything wrong with a pastor preaching against satans devices. I think not.

There are specific sins that we all know conservative and liberal. What is not specific is the method used to cause the saints to commit these sins and violate Gods moral laws. Ceremonial laws have been done away with in Jesus fulfilling them. Pauls List

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
