It was brought to my attention of late that there are some who believe in water baptism in Jesus name who pour water? Like having the neophyte repent and the baptizer dumps a container of water on their head. Like a Roman Catholic would christen a child by sprinkling some H2O on the noggin of an infant. I'm not saying these Solo cup pouring in Jesus name individuals don't also baptize by full immersion. They do, but claim that they must pour when the situation arises where a baptistry or large body of water isn't available. My position is that even if you have no access to a baptistry, swimming pool, lake or ocean. The supernatural God we serve can work it out that you will have opportunity to get a real decent burial in water in Jesus name. Even though your faith may be too low to believe that Jesus can get you access to a good amount of baptizing fluid. Jesus will always find a way for the truly sincere. Now, for those who will tell me about "death bed" baptisms, using a clear plastic cup with water to pour on the head of the dying? Please consider this verse from
Ecclesiastes 11:3 "If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth; and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there it shall lie."
The Bible uses the Greek word for burying which we use the word baptism. Therefore as the earth was covered in water and eight were saved by water
1 Peter 3:20. The same goes for those who die to their old nature are buried in Jesus name.
The whole Jesus name pouring issue argument is based on necessity. Therefore my position is have a little faith, and tell the neophyte to activate their faith as well. If we lack a body of water, then as the Baptist argue, "what if there is no water?" All of a sudden we are at the place of sufficing for a sinner's prayer with a lick and a promise?
Good Grief.
