"....for they SHALL be filled"!!!!!

This morning we had a missionary service with missionaries

from Venzeula. This man's grandfather and father have been

there for 50 yrs. This young missionary and his wife and two

small children showed the DVD and told about the country of

their calling. He then spoke for a while on "Giving What We Have".

His text was Acts 3:1-10. Peter and John at the gate Beautiful.

They didn't have silver or gold but offered what they did have.

He told about the past few months of coming in contact with

people that recognized he had something different and he was

able to minister and pray with them and lead them to the Holy

Ghost.

Then he asked everyone who wanted to be used of God to come

around the front. Many came forward.

A little hispanic lady who lives near the church had started coming

several months ago and had been baptized and received the Holy

Ghost, had been staying with her grandchildren during the day and

telling her family all about "her" church. This morning she came in with

about ten of her family. Her oldest daughter told me when I greeted her

after they came in. "Momma is always talking about "my church, my

church" and I can see why. When I walked through the doors I felt so

welcome". I told her, "You always feel welcome in the Father's House".

Now back to the end of the service. This daughter received the Holy

Ghost, and two other members of their family, plus two other ladies that

had recently come and one had recently been baptized. Five people

received the Holy Ghost in moments. This was the first time this older

daughter of the little hispanic lady had been there.

I can assure you she didn't leave like she came, in Jesus Name!!!

The last two missionary services we have had, all "heaven" broke loose

and glory filled our souls!! Makes me wonder if maybe we should have

more missionary services!!!

Blessings,

Falla39

What a wonderful account of the saving grace of our Savior! We shouldn't forget that the most powerful evangelical tool has always been the power of our testimony.

That precious lady kept testifying for several weeks and God knew exactly the Sunday that her family was meant to attend "her" church. Thank you for sharing the good news of Christ. There have been too many threads that have only served to create controversy instead of edification of God and others.

God bless you and I look forward to many more good reports from you and your church. Tell PopC hello for me.

What a great report!!

Who were the missionaries?
Were they from the Burton family by chance?
Jim Burton and his wife Martha took their sons (I think there were 5 of them) to Venezuela many years ago. They were from the (only) UPC church here in Cincinnati. That church has since split (in 1968) and some of the Burtons are back here and going to the UPC church that split off the other UPC church in 1968.

Bro. Sam,

This missionary was Lonnie Burton. He was about 32 yrs. I believe. His

wife is Venzuelan and such a beautiful lady. For the sake of the many

spanish speaking people we had this morning, she gave her testimony and

her husband interpeted it.

This brother said he did not want to be a missionary but God had other

ideas. He is a fireball for God. Plays the keyboard and sang. His little boy,

6 yrs. old sang with him in Spanish. They also have a five month old baby

daughter.

He had photos on the DVD of his grandfather, James Burton and wife. Also

his dad and mom. and then he and his wife and children. Generation after

generation of truth being passed on. That is the same with our family. I

thank God for my heritage.

My dad served in WWII in the Phillipeans and in Japan in 1944-45. He

returned home with a terrific burden for missions. The church here has

always been a very mission-minded church. God allowed my dad to see

the sacrifices of this church he had pastored for over 30 yrs., receive

the honour of being recognized as being No. 3, in worldwide giving, per

capita, in 1988, one year before he traveled out of our sight. He wasn't

able to attend to receive this honour, but his son, who was assisting at

at the time received it in his place.

God bless every one of our foreign missionaries and home missionaries,

and their families and congregations, in Jesus Name!!

I was acquainted with Jim and Martha Burton many years ago.
He went to ABI in St. Paul, MN.
They were from the church pastored by Bro. Frank Curts.
So this is his grandson.
Third generation missionaries.
That's great.

Bro. Curts was Dist. Supt. of Ohio for many years (not so sure how many exactly). When Jim Burton came before the board for license or whatever, Bro. Curts said that he did something he never did before. He recommended licensing Bro. Burton with no questions asked.

Bro. Sam,

Looks like Bro. Curts made a wise recommendation and it has

certainly paid off in many souls being born into the kingdom, and

continues to do so!!

Thanks for your most interesting comments!

One of my Sons worked with Bro. Burton and his father teaching in the Bible School there in Miracaibo. The two years that he was there was very productive.
