Tattoos

Maybe this has been hashed out before but not during my time here. So two basic questions:

1) Do you believe tattoos are ok?

2) Would you get one?

The bonus question would be do you have one (or more) and the super-bonus question would be, did you get it after you became a Follower of Christ?

Re: Tattoos

I don't think they are a sin, but I don't care for them at all. I simply think they look tacky.

I don't have a problem with tattoos.

My wife and I have considered getting one on our 20th anniversary. At this point I don't have one but I only have 2 1/2 years to make up my mind.

I would get it on my shoulder so that I can cover it up when necessary.

WOW!!! We planned on it for our 20th and never did it. We even pursued some designs. And it was going to be on the back of our shoulder! It's not out of the question, though. We still talk about it.

Re: Tattoos

Well it does say under the law not to mark your body if that is what you are really asking.

I personally don't care for them and maybe it has to do with my father telling me from a very young age to never get one. It's not a heaven or hell issue but in some areas (Not all) it might keep you from getting certain jobs. That's just how finicky some people are...

In different places in the bible our bodies are refferred to as the temple of God
The church house is also considered a temple. If my pastor say to not spray paint graffitti on the church house, he also has the same authority to say to not put permanent graffitti on a body. The spirit of rebellion comes out when we hear people say it is their body and no one has a right to tell them what to do.

I don't believe tattoos are a sin and I have one. It's not visible to the public, but not in a stupid or risque place either. It's a cross.

Don't have any. IMO they look trashy.

They do look and become trashy. Tatts become a great source of laughter.
When people are naked in surgery under anesthesia, the young staff goes in to see the crazziest ones and laugh. As folks age, the art work looks horrible.

The Red Cross make you wait 12 months after a tattoo because of the commonly know incidence of hepatitis.
