Well there is a double standard but it's not about being anti-Jewelry. In their minds only women can wear jewelry. But that is absurd since just about anything can be jewelry. Im sure they would be fine if he had on a rolex. Or a tie clip.

Yes.
Earrings in the Old Testament are far too many times linked to Idolatry and Vanity for my comfort.

they are? What is vanity? how about ties, suits, nice shoes, brooches etc etc?

Clothes cover our nakedness, earrings are an unnecessary adornment.
