Light Doctrine Finds Resurgence
The recent videos posted concerning a so-called "Light Doctrine" is more evidence that even three steppers are open to non Oneness Pentecostals being spared rather than "Lost".
Putting aside the question of how much credibility Lee Stoneking has, or even whether a "Light Doctrine" is biblical, I think this shows us something. A rigid three step position simply cannot be maintained in the UPC.
When leaders start cracking down on those perceived "weak on the doctrine" the resurgence of the Light Doctrine is seen. I have had many conversations with licensed ministers and laypersons alike that embrace a form of the light doctrine... These for the most part would be viewed as "Three Steppers" in their doctrine of salvation, and further most would not dare teach it publicly for fear of being labeled "weak".
The irony is amazing I think, the tougher one is on the three step requirement, the more likely they make other back door exceptions.
