I wonder if someone will direct her to something like a local Crisis Pregnancy Center (that's NOT like Planned Parenthood. At CPC they do not do abortions. They talk to the girls about either keeping the baby and raising it or else releasing the child for adoption) The CPC here is very good about giving support in situations like this. They would get someone involved to go with her to talk to her parents to let tell them about the pregnancy if she felt the need for it.

I agree here. Telling mom may not solve the problem. In some cases, Mom is so caught up in the offenders religious web of lies that she would actually side with the offender against her own daughter. A girl in our neighbor hood was molested by here step-father and the Mom, sent the girl away as a trouble maker who "lied" on her hubby. She sent the girl away to live with relatives and kept the bum. No, Abbey should tell the girl to by-pass Mom, Go directly to the authorties.
Heres another point: More than likely this girl isn't the only victim. People like this more often than not spreads their "love" around to multiple victims. When the truth comes out (and it will) this girl will be devatated more by the fact that she isn't the "only special girl" in this mans sordid life. What he has done is unspeakable. But when other victims are discovered, this girl will be crushed, and the baby, should she decide to keep it, will be a constant reminder of how she was betrayed. So sad for all involved. Except the creep. Whatever happens to him will be less than he deserves.
I have heard rumors that there is a church in a certain state that has a pastor who molested several young girls over a period of time. He was tried and convicted and sent to prison for a long time (probably not long enough). But, and this is so sad.... he is still the pastor of the church. The church believing the whole thing was a lie on the "man of God", chose to keep him as pastor. Its said he makes audio taped sermons and directs the church by letter and phone calls. Some of the parents of the victims still attend there, they say, and forces these girls to listen to the voice of this slime every Sunday preaching about the love of God.

Another precaution, our church has always had two secretaries during the hours that the pastor is in the office. Just so there could never be any questions about the pastor and the secretary being alone.

You're right, Steve. It is cruel and unusual. But what he did to that girl was also cruel. Maybe not so unusual, unfortunately. But definately cruel.
Steve, I've seen you with your girls. I know how much you love and adore them. And I feel very sure that if this man had done this to one of your girls, he might be wishing for MY punishment

Re: Pregnant at 16 by her pastor!
Why on God's green earth does a thread like this become so popular? For goodness sakes the foundation of the whole thread is based on DEAR ABBY! Believe me I know first hand that his could be a very real problem but why dwell on it!
I for one got a lot more enjoyment out of this forum a few weeks ago when there were several threads going about the goodness of God!
Do I want to bury my head in the sand and pretend the rest does not go on.....NO! If it happens on my turf I will deal with it and move on. But, why should stuff like this get press? and among so called church people. This world much was much better off before people got the notion that EVERYTHING has to be talked about!
The Bible gives us instruction on how to deal with people in these instances and nowhere did it say to all talk about it at length on the phone or in forums.
I will admit there are even situations where a person has to sit tight and wait for God to reveal what to do...been there too. But to have everything all out in the open for everyone to discuss is a sin in itself. No one here knows the details of this situation if it did happen. Dear Abbey could have put it in there for entertainment.....she probably knows as well that stuff like this gets good press.
No wonder this forum has had a bad name at times of being like national gossip papers.
I will state one scripture reference....if you don't know what it says go look it up, it would do you good to read some Bible today! Phil 4:8

This brings up another point, can anyone explain to me why a women would stay with a man who has abused children? I have never understood this phenomenon, it boggles my mind.
I understand forgiveness, but there is a difference between forgiveness and staying with a predator.
I just don't get it.

Sis., I understand what you are saying, but the reason that we have generation after generation of abused children is because for so long, no one would talk about this topic. The only way to fight it is to make people aware. Yes, people can become jaded or lose their trust, but if it causes them to be more protective of their children, then I feel it is worth it.
I'm not saying to name names or spread gossip, but as far as I know, no one knows who this person who wrote "Dear Abby" Is. To talk about it in the abstract is not harmful, it is making people more aware of the dangers our children face every where.
We should be vigilent with the safety of our children no matter who they are with or where they are at.
But I do understand your distress, it is an ugly, ugly topic.
