Sometimes. But if I put a pendant on a ribbon or even just wore a ribbon choker it might be considered a necklace. A tie or scarf is considered functional.

The weirdest thing to me is that all of this stems from "not the wearing of GOLD, pearls...". It doesn't say plastic, silver, tungsten, or even rubies or diamonds. Just gold and pearls. How do we get "no necklaces or bracelets or rings" out of that, even if we take it to the furthest literal extreme?

I remember reading about the first Methodist Holiness saint that boldly wore a flower or feather on her hat. See how liberal the Methodists became?

Years ago a cloth was tied around the neck to be used to wipe off the mouth after eating. If a tie was still used for that, it could be considered functional. For years men's ties have been only ornamental.

It depends on the person, then.

Some people use them to cover the spots on the front of their shirt from eating. Does that count?

Re: ~~~~Newsflash~~~~ St.Mark Found......

Renda, my cyber friend... with all due respect...

Did this girl give you permission to take her picture, post it on AFF and subsequently take apart her appearance?

I remember a certain former UPCI preachers wife's picture being posted on another forum... comments made over her appearance and AFF being in outrage over it (well deserved outrage, I completely agreed it was disgusting behavior to post a lady's photo and pick them apart on a Christian forum)
I find it no less disgusting here.

I sure hope you know this girl personally and she is ok with her picture being taken and posted on a public "Christian" forum, for all to comment.

To all of you...If this were one of your own daughters being talked about... how exactly would that make you feel?

Opinions on "standards" or "double standards" are one thing... this is something different.

FTR, I think her curls are sweet and I hope St. Mark does find a sweet girl.
