Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
BTW, I read Aurelius as a teen, and occasionally return to him. He influenced me profoundly with one concept: Always inquire, "Why does this person do what he does? And why do *I* do what I do?" (paraphrased)
If you like Aurelius, you should read Epictetus.

I may go there next, after Sproul. Not sure yet. If I do, I'll take a look at Epictetus.

Another recommendation:
You're Not Sick You're Thirsty: Your Body's Many Cries For Water by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj (deceased).
See here: http://www.watercure.com/
The title pretty much says it all. It's heavy on the science side of things, at least for me. But the basic premise is perfectly sound and understandable. In particular, it deals with what Dr. F. Batmanghelidj calls Chronic Unintentional Dehydration, including signs and symptoms and how to overcome a host of various medical issues through proper body hydration.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
I finished Sproul's Knowing Scripture a few nights ago. I started in on The Prince but changed my mind and instead, began reading A Hobbit, A Wardrobe, and a Great War by Joseph Loconte. I am enjoying it so far.
I've also progressed in the NKJV and NLT. In the NKJV, I'm in Hebrews now. In the NLT, I just finished Ezekiel and began Daniel.
As a recommendation, I suggest A Wizard of Earthsea, and the ensuing series, by Ursula K. LeGuin. Read them in high school. To this day, I like them more than any other fantasy series I've read, and I've read a lot. They are well-written, not bloated like so many fantasy books, so very concise. Great world building and internal structural logic for the way magic works. Quite clean, too. No graphic violence or death scenes, as I recall. No foul language to be found at all, either. Really good stuff!
Ms. LeGuin's Hainish Cycle is fantastic sci-fi. So, there's another recommendation.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
I recently finished Hebrews in the NKJV and Ezekiel in the NLT. I am reading James in the first, Daniel in the second.
I am still working through Reimagining Church by Frank Viola and A Hobbit, A Wardrobe, and a Great War by Joseph Loconte.

Re: What Are You Reading Currently, 2.0
I haven't been much on a reading kick as of late. I did recently finish James in the NKJV, and am set to begin 1 Peter. Otherwise, I've slowed my intake. I did purchase some new books, some from a book drive at my doctor's office (The Day Christ Died by Jim Bishop, God In Search of Man: A Philosophy of Judaism by Joshua Heschel, The Brother of Jesus: The Dramatic Story & Meaning of the First Archaeological Link to Jesus & His Family by Hershel Shanks and Ben Witherington III, and The Shakespeare Wars: Clashing Scholars, Public Fiascoes, Palace Coups by Ron Rosenbaum), and one yesterday from Barnes and Noble ( The Apostles and Their Times: Archaeology, History, and Scripture Unveil What Life Was Really Like During the Apostolic Age by Mike Aquilina).

Another recommendation:
Voice of a Prophet: Who Speaks for God? by A. W. Tozer.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L3MQ65W...ng=UTF8&btkr=1
A nice, concise book on what it means to be a New Covenant prophet. Written well before our times, even as it saw them coming, Tozer does a great job elucidating what anyone invited by God to be or become a prophet is supposed to be and do. Not a very long book, an easy read, easily finished in a night or two, if one has the time to give.
From the back cover:
Quote:
During his ministry, which included extended pastorates in Chicago and Toronto, Dr. Tozer was often referred to as a prophet. That doesn't mean he predicted future events, but rather he spoke God's truth to believers and the culture, even if it meant disrupting the status quo. Even in the Bible, prophets were much more likely to hold God's people and their leaders accountable to the truth of God's Word than to foretell the future. The encouragement in Voice of a Prophet is that the church today is in desperate need of the kind of prophet Tozer embodied and describes in this important book. Using the lives of such prophets as Elijah, Elisha, and John the Baptist, Tozer underscores the importance of the ministry of the prophet in our world today.
