being a former history major, i do care about history.
the point here is you have a website out there trying to be an influence in American politics.
they have as a bullet point on their resume " we think Abraham Lincoln was the devil"
RD and PO, do either of you think this is the way to go about winning friends and influencing people? because from all I know about politics, that just dont seem like the way to go about your business.
here are the pionts of interest to me personally.
I agree with these folk in principle on a number of issues. On issues that i find important, I tend to want to win at the ballot box. winning at the ballot box becomes important. I dont want people who I agree with, doing things that will cause my side to loose.
Getting linked to the "Kooks that think Abraham Lincoln was the devil" doesnt help you win at the ballot box.
Guys, AL was responsible for more American deaths than any other person in history. He did not think black people were genetically equal to white people. (this would be the definition of a racist).
He is the only president to suspend (or come close to) suspending the constitution.
He in fact was known for not following up on promises.
He fired God only knows how many generals until he came up on a guy that would throw his own men away like so much trash....but won because he didnt mind playing a numbers game.
Would you like for me to go on? i could. I could also run down a few things he did well....
but. If I want to score political points, and get people to vote for my guy, I am NOT leading with "Abraham Lincoln didnt like Jesus"
