Grew up listening to this man at Louisiana Camp meeting and probably heard him at Mississippi Camp meeting. One of the more well known men in the UPC.

Re: Bro. Billy Cole has passed away
I enjoyed hearing him preach back in the 70's when I was in the UPC and a young man. He led a very interesting life as a missionary. One of my favrorite stories is about when he first went to Thailand as a missionary and he and his wife were walking with some guides out in the middle of nowhere up a pretty steep hill on their way to a village. The guides kept laughing and when BC's wife finally asked them what they were laughing about the one that spoke English told her that one had remarked that if Billy Cole died on this hike they were just going to roll him down the hill as there was no way they could carry him.
He was a colorful ambassador for Pentecost who did not let his size restrict him in what he wanted to do.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Bro. Billy Cole has passed away
First heard Bro. Cole at Pa. Camp in Forks, Pa. more than a few years ago. I was Brenda Cole's age and we became pen pals. I was so excited, as a pre-teen, to go out to the mailbox and see the foreign postage and hear the news from Thailand. Since that time I have listened to and read about Billy Cole at every opportunity. About a year or so ago he came to our church in his last preaching tour. What an awesome anointing and what a precious man of God. God be with his family and church family.

Re: Bro. Billy Cole has passed away
Yesterday as I learned the news of Bro. Billy Cole's passing, it seemed I could
could see his pastoral study/office as some came to see him. They could see
that there was a note on the door. Thinking he was perhaps out to lunch, they
came closer only to see the note read, "GONE HOME"!

Those are the words engraved on my uncle's headstone. Very appropriate!
