If you are willing to spend a few bucks there is a great program out there called Tunebyte.

http://www.tunebyte.com

It will make mp3's and will cut ringtones from them.

Here I was searching /home/mnt and thinking I need to add sda to my accessable drives and it was in the /windows directory!

http://www.bitpim.org/

BitPim is a program that allows you to view and manipulate data on many CDMA phones from LG, Samsung, Sanyo and other manufacturers. This includes the PhoneBook, Calendar, WallPapers, RingTones (functionality varies by phone) and the Filesystem for most Qualcomm CDMA chipset based phones.

Make sure the file you upload is in one of these formats: mp3, .wav, .aac, .m4a, .wma

When you are done uploading it, drag the hilighted portion over the part of the music you want. It looks like a sound wave.

Click create and send to My Zoo. This will store the ringtone to your online account with phonezoo. After that download it to your phone. Your cellphone must have a webbrowser on it, because phonezoo will send a text message with a weblink to download the ringtone to your phone. Then just go to your ringtone setup on your phone and choose the ringtone.

Make sure phonezoo has the model # of your phone. Different companies have different ringtone files.

Hope that helps.
