I know how easy it is for me to feel something so strongly that I can't see how others think. I am hoping that others will post too. I love understanding why people do things, it saves my prideful mind of working to come up with putting thoughts and intentions inside others.
Now I admit I am judging your posts.... Maybe you didn't read my entire post?

LOL. Gurrlll, I many times skim through things and post accordingly and get a . I appreciate your posting and your point of view. I heard a very reputable old time UPCI minister preach a sermon on convictions verses standards and I know that if you have a personal conviction that God has laid on your heart then you will not cross it and it will be forever settled in your mind/heart, but a standard is something imposed on you that isn't necessarily Biblical and when the time comes to leave it behind...one often does...as I have done.
Blessings to you, Rhoni

Re: Why do you wear makeup, if you do?
Hey Rhoni, I think I see how you got the impression you did! I just re-read my post. It IS my fault!! I DID say I wish I could wear makeup and you thought that meant I was confused. Hey, maybe I am and just don't want to admit it??? Hmmmmm
Anyway, I judged you wrong, please forgive me.
I guess what I was trying to say, but didn't to such a great job saying, is that I can see how my friends are being truthful when they say I look old and wrinkled and that I could look much better and be more attractive if I wore makeup. (I wouldn't mind looking younger)
The problem is, I don't know how to explain to them that I can't right now, because I don't feel a release from God, without sounding like I am "holier than thou." Thus, I figured that if you guys helped me see why they DO wear makeup, I might be able to come up with something to share with them.
Understanding where they are coming from will help me word things without being offensive, I think.

Why do I wear makeup? I'm 52. 'Nuff said! LOL Why do I wear jewelry? Because I like girly things and I really don't think God cares one way or the other. I don't do extremely gaudy things, and I don't have pierced ears, but that's just because of personal conviction. I love jewelry!

Re: Why do you wear makeup, if you do?
Personal convictions are fine with me. That is between the individual and God. It is up to them and God to find out why they have been convicted. Next, all of these arbritray rules have beeb implemented by a patriarch of men who were not interested in women havinf the freedom to look and feel good about themselves. Standards are always a bunch of rules for women. Men don't have to change anything to the point that they look so different from the next man. Women on the other hand have look all frumpy and plain cause they tell you to do so. There is no scripture for not wearing any makeup and the rest of the standards. Now, I await all my attackers for this one, especially the standards police.

Thank you for the apology but it isn't necessary. I didn't question makeup until I started looking and feeling old. I think I could live by the ultra conservative dress standard if I had to all except..I am too young to be gray and we all know that if I have any gray that it is indeed pre-mature and I will take care of it this weekend
*hugs*

I have a male friend who wears makeup to smooth his complexion. It looks very natural and it boosts his self-confidence.

One day I felt the Lord question me as to why I wanted to change what He made beautiful in His eyes? I realized that I didn't think what He created was good enough for me.
At first I quit wearing makeup and "big" jewelry. Later I stopped wearing jewelry altogether. I thought I looked really dead without makeup at first, but I actually got my color back naturally without it after a couple of months.
Anyway, just because that happened to me I don't think it is for everyone. That doesn't keep me from wondering why others DO wear makeup and jewelry. I would not dare ask my friends this question because I think they would think I was judging them and just give a defensive answer.
Here nobody knows who I am, so nobody has to "prove" anything to me. I am hoping that some of you can help me understand why anyone wears makeup and jewelry.
All I know is that I was wearing it for all the wrong reasons and it was offensive to God. I would like to start wearing makeup again, especially since I am looking older every day. So for me to wear makeup would be wrong. God intended for me to look old because I am getting old. He could have easily not made men and women to look old. My friends seem to not like how God made me because they think I should wear makeup. :-/ I don't want to offend them with why I don't wear makeup and make them think that I think I am better than them.
Also, why don't men wear makeup?

You have a good testimony. Hopefully you will realize one day that this is not a personal conviction but rather God given revelation.
