When I first found IHOP, I was a fanatic. I spent hours watching the prayer room, downloading music, and desperately wanting to be a part of the movement.
I then spent some time Googling the ministry and found myself disillusioned. A lot of people disagreed with Mike Bickle's theology and the way that the ministry was conducted. I was then afraid of IHOP for a bit and thought that it was a horrible cult.
A few months ago, I spent some time speaking with interns from the International House of Prayer. Very normal kids who honestly loved Jesus and admitted that IHOP is a bit intense, but they wouldn't choose anything else.
In short, I've found myself somewhere in between. I don't spend hours watching the prayer room because I find a lot of it repetitive and a bit tiring, but I do love the studio albums that IHOP artists release (and some of the live stuff). I don't think I'd ever consider an IHOP internship, but I'd still love to visit.
Just my personal experience. We're on the same page since the one thing that's apparent in all of the IHOPpers I know is their sincerity.

I know what you're saying; I've met some young people associated with IHOP, and they are some of the most passionate, committed people serving the Lord I've ever met. One thing that impressed me was that they are willing to stop what they're doing and pray for somebody anywhere and everywhere... even in public places.

Two or three hours of worship?
Isn't this "wearing out the saints"?
About 10 minutes is enough for me.

But if we are in faith it is invigorating! The beings around the throne fall down before him in adoration non stop over and over again. This is what YHWH likes.

Sister Sold Out,
I have been watching for a year and a half now. As much as I love IHOP I am really glad you dont want to be an intern. They DO teach some good truth especially discipleship and Christian lifestyle. But the danger is in the Trinitarianism. They are committed to it.
I think being exposed to IHOP would be a really good thing for many Apostolic young people but its a definite case (doctrinally) of eating the meat and spitting out the bones.
