Honey, we were from a poor old country church. If I remember correctly, one of the ladies went to the local thrift store (meaning "junk shop") and found a whole bolt of that nylon net stuff. That's how our rats got started. We did try pantyhose, but the hairpins stuck better in the nylon net stuff. So we sacrificed. When I think of some of the things we did...........................

I often think that God must just sit there and shake His holy head at us trying to make ourselves good enough to be acceptable by Him. I'm convinced He watches us and says to Himself, "If they would only just accept the sacrifice that I have already made. Don't they know that nothing they do will pay the price for their salvation? I've already paid it!!"

We made our "rats" out of hair from our hairbrushes and put in a hair net.
I can't imagine how you would be able to keep an oatmeal box on your head???
Never tried anything else.
I too am glad this has passed and hope it stays in the past.

Re: You know you're Pentecostal when...
Thanks for bumping.... I just read it for the first time now.
I was smiling at most but these two got me laughing out loud:
23) Celebrating your 21st birthday doesn't mean much.
and
28) Your day of rest includes 2 church services, choir practice, and
Golden Corral.
Oh yes.... and Whole Hearted's contribution:
Going camping means going to camp meeting and youth camp.
(Never DID go to a UPC camp that allowed camp fires, or had fishing or canoing, or swimming (no duh on that one), or archery, or Bill Murry.....

That's what I used! In fact, I had a hairpiece for the TOP and one for the BACK of my hair. One could only see my hair in the very front. My hair is very thin...so the yarn just showed through.
But, you know what....the pictures sure make for good conversation and LOTS of laughter! I might just get some out and show them to the College and Career Class that my hubby and I teach! We could have a whole Patty and Peter Pentecost night!
AH.....MEMORIES!

You might be an Apostolic if...
Your children want baptized before they reach double digits.
