Re: Pentecostal Worship isn't so Pentecostal Nowad

I don't think people should be running or dancing during the preaching unless the preacher took a time out for that kind of expression. People have to be considering of the rest of the church. It's not all about you. If you want to give an "amen" or just thank God, fine, but the rest of the church does not need to hear or see you do it. God is neither deaf nor blind

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

I've never seen the Praise Break videos, but what things in them are paganism?

Just watch them 95 % emotionalism

You wanna see some paganism on youtube type in "magic holy hair"

and listen to paganism preached and endorsed in upc churches.

If you follow LS instructions to take your hair down and wave it around and around to summon the power as do the witches.

Well that would more pentecostal paganism.

Should we be bothered by this?

Should we be glad they're catching on?
I think you'd need to define 'exclusively Pentecostal'. From what I've heard, in 'olden times' all sorts of denominations had old-fashioned shouting services.

Get glad Ed...it's the only proper response.

I am very sorry I started this thread.

I apologize for offending you guys.

It was not my intention to bash Pentecostal worship.

I love our "emotionalism."

When someone is truly worshipping God to be seen of God and not of men, they become emotional and display emotion.

If someone wants to run because they don't know what else to do when they feel the presence of God, then let them run. If someone else dances, let them dance. If someone wants to silently lift their hands, what of it?

But let it all be done unto the Lord and not because someone told them to do it.

After all, we are worshipping the Creator of the universe and the Savior of our souls. Shouldn't we worship Him will ALL of our hearts?

I have no problem with worship. How many of these people act the way they do in church when they are home worshiping where no one can see them?

I am betting they don't run around their coffee table or flop on the floor.

I can tell you I'm the same way at home when I feel the presence of God as I am at church.

But as for others, only God knows whether they are seeking to be seen of men or of God. I don't want to judge their offering of praise. God is the one who accepts or rejects it. And I don't want to make fun of them.

If you don't like rowdy, emotional worship, then that is your choice.

Maybe there are things in which I might draw the line, but running, leaping, dancing, shouting, clapping, making a loud noise are not those things.
