Re: Murrell Ewing is now singing with the Angels
My brother, David was a HUGE fan of Bro. Ewing...he played his CDs, sang his songs, and knowing David, probably even preached some of his sermons.
On December 10, 2010, my beloved brother passed away, at the age of 46 years old. He was not sick, that anyone knew of...he simply dropped to the floor, and was gone.
At the wake, held the night before the funeral in his home church in Anderson, IN, the musical background was everything we could find by Bro. Ewing. For four hours, people passed through the line, listening to some of the sweetest music this side of heaven.
It was soothing to us all, and I know David would have been pleased...

Oh sure, there are many still working hard to bring the Gospel to the world. And humble before God and man. Not looking for fame or fortune, just working hard. I know more than one. I think one of the differences is, there are more ways to communicate now.

Sis. Barb,
I am so sorry for your loss. Lost our first sibling in Sept. 2007, at age 55.
Here today and gone tomorrow. Such a shock. May our compassinate Lord
comfort your hearts, in Jesus Name! We have used Bro. Ewing's songs for
funerals for people that didn't even go to church, because they were always
so comforting.
Hugs,
Falla39

Re: Murrell Ewing is now singing with the Angels
I really think Bro Ewing was older than 69. I was thinking he was well into his seventies.

Re: Murrell Ewing is now singing with the Angels
I loved Bro. Murrell's songs, I sang some of his songs myself in church. He will be greatly missed.

Re: Murrell Ewing is now singing with the Angels
Great memories of Bro. Murrell leading choir at Youth Camp in Lufkin, Texas. The camp was not the same when he was not there.
May the Lord comfort his family and friends, for surely he is "Home Now"! Amazing how time changes the community around us, folks just slip quietly off, a new generation grows up and fills all the places.

I haven't seen it. We just have the old tape of it. I want to check and see if there is a DVD of it.
I've been looking for the song, "If you had known me" on You Tube.

Here's the lyrics:
If You Have Known Me
1.
Just an old rejected relic on the auction block
They decided to throw me away
The auctioneer asked, "Who'll take her?"
The room was quiet and still.
And Jesus stepped forward, and He said, "I will".
Refrain
If you had known me before I knew Him,
You would understand why I love Him.
If you had known me before I knew Him,
You would understand my love.
2.
I had not much to offer, just heartache and pain,
and a life that was filled with despair.
For my rags, He gave me riches,
For my fears, He traded peace,
For my whole life, he gave me a blessed release.
