And it seems to me that most Charismatics are satisfied with that, never pray for an interpretation, and don't even believe that interpretations are possible.

Re: I would like to speak with new tongues
It seems this character (for the lack of a better term) isn't Apostolic, or even Pentecostal for that matter, and that he's wanted to debate and disprove the Truth, and therefore "out" us as wrong.
I honestly thought he was wanting to know about tongues, and our experiences with the Spirit because he was new in the Apostolic way, but evidently I was wrong.

Deep down I know you are right, but I just can't stop myself from responding. As long as it is civil, I don't suppose it can hurt.

If the answer is obviously no, then a prophet might not have the gift to suddenly be fluent in multiple foreign languages.

The purpose of this forum is for those who agree with you to answer questions. And I'm still waiting for answers to these questions:
Do the greatest of the Apostolic prophets that you know about only prophesy about members of their local assemblies or do the greatest modern-day prophets ever prophesy about world events and the global church?
Which is of greater priority for you: To speak five words in church knowing what you're saying in order to instruct others, or ten thousand words in an unknown tongue that you don't know the meaning of?

I think the problem you are having with getting answers is that your phrasing makes every question seem loaded. Just fyi.
I am unaware of any Apostolic prophets with a platform that would allow for global outreach. There probably are some, but I cannot name one. As such, I would say the most prevalent use of prophesy is a localized version.
I would rather speak five words of prophecy, but the concepts are not mutually exclusive. Paul said speaking words that are understood are more profitable to the congregation, but he also thanked God he spoke in tongues more than the rest.

How is that Apostolic? The Epistles of the Apostle Paul were widely circulated to strengthen the Church everywhere. Could it really be that no one in your church knows about the Internet?

This. ^^^
What exactly are you expecting to be taught worldwide by some modern day prophet that hasn’t already been presented in scripture?

Are you suggesting that the Remnant Church doesn't have the Spirit of prophecy?
