Funny how Christians want to "Christianise" a Catholic holy day which is itself a Christianised pagan holy day. In 4 the lulz.

So this is Mithras, and what have you done?
Another year over, and a new one just begun...

Re: Is your church celebrating a Halloween alterna
Ok, so I'm not sure that I'm attending the church hallo... hallelujah party on Thursday. There's not going to be any costumes or any décor. They're just having food, games, and candy fo the chirren. I guess it is a Halloween alternative, but it's not. IDK.
Not doing holidays this year as I did when I was backslidden.
I think next to go are thanksgiving and birthdays. Though, I enjoy celebrating my birthday. Not sure how this is going to go.

Are you sure birthdays aren't pagan too?, that leaves you thanksgiving only and be thankful that you still have one .

Birthdays are pagan. They may be next on the chopping block along with Thanksgiving. But maybe next year.

Re: Is your church celebrating a Halloween alterna
My church is quite strong on its stance against the celebration of Halloween in the "traditional" sense. We usually have some sort of a fall festival-type fun day/evening at the church where they have bouncy houses and cotton candy machines set up. That day we'll usually have games for the kids, teenagers, and we've been known to have a hay ride closer to dark.
It's all in good fun. I know some people are of the mindset that no Halloween means no alternative whatsoever. That, I'll say, depends on where your convictions lay. If you think you shouldn't participate in a fall festival-type event, then don't. If you don't feel like God is telling you to stay clear, then I guess the decision to attend is entirely up to you.
