When Paul quotes the Greek mystic seer he is in no way agreeing with everything Epimenides promoted. Paul just chose to use that one quote which he did agree with.

This is something that many preachers and teachers do today - quote contemporary writers, even pagans or other non Christians - in order to secure an "illustration" or an example of a point they are trying to make. In fact, prior to the New Light Presbyterian revivals under Finney and others in the 1830s, it was almost a standard feature of every Protestant sermon to include an example or illustration by quoting some classical Greek or Roman author. Finney helped spearhead the abandonment of using classical examples in favour of more contemporary and relevant examples from everyday life. His usage filtered down into the evangelical revivalism of the 1800s and early 1900s, which is why these days most preachers will use illustrations and examples from modern day events.
Have you never heard a preacher quote a line from a old movie, or a famous novel or work of literature, or even a tv commercial, or Bush Sr's "Read My Lips", or some other such thing, as an example or illustration?
Happens all the time, and has been happening since people began speaking for the purposes of persuasion.

No doubt. He also refused to even read the thread.
So he haphazardly scurries through the internet until he found something he felt agreed with him.

He also gets so angry that he doesn’t even consider what is being posted.
No one is defending the book of Enoch as holy writ. No one is saying that the book of Enoch quoted by Jude is even the one we have today. I wonder how Sean would deal with the book of Jasher? Sean, doesn’t take into consideration that Paul quotes pagans. Paul quoting their words doesn’t make the pagan teachers holy or legit. Paul quotes them because their words agree with what Paul is teaching. As when he is on the Areopagus. Paul is speaking to pagan Greeks. Therefore he uses information they already knew.

Amen. Paul became all things to all men that by all means he might save some.

Amen, to the Judean, he became a Judean, to the Roman he became a Roman.
He had qualifications for both, trained at the feet of Gamaliel, and Paul was from the center of intellectual learning Tarsus, the Roman capital of Cilicia. Paul was able to use the Stoics, and Epicureans' words to influence the Romans to convert to Christ. Not giving honor to the Pagan Greeks, but to show that there is only one truth, the Lord Jesus Christ.

I read through this thread again. Wow. You two need to collaborate on a commentary... or something. It would be a shame if you two took your knowledge to the grave.
