Could this be? Once having cast out ones OWN 'mote', one can then do that to another bro? What IF that one doesn't wanna let it go?
Can we bop em up side the head and yank it out for their own good?

Not meaning to ever make fun of GOD's WORD, but seriously I never looked at it this way.
I can't see how anyone can be "perfect" enough to demand someone else change
or else!

It means if you get the mote (sin) out of your life you will be able to see how to get sin out of your brothers life.Sin blinds people to where they can't see how to do God's work.

2 Peter 1:[5] And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
[6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
[7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
[8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[9] But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
[10] Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

1John.2
[11] But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Another conviction for me: Getting on the platform without prayer. I can't do it. I have pray before service and especially before I get on the platform to sing or play the keyboards. If I haven't prayed, I don't feel comfy up there. I need to be sensitive to God and make sure that I am in tune with what He wants to do in the service....

AMEN!

Scores do it and then wonder why they can't get it together for the service, why services drag or why things seem scattered... PRAYER fixes 90% of that!

Amen... I agree totally. All the churches I have ever been in required the platform to be in the prayer room or they didnt go near the platform... I can even count a few times we had no music on certain nights because the musicians or musician was late and thought they werent gonna go to the prayer room!

One thing that bothers me and I've always been convicted of is to hear someone say flippantly and with no real regard to God Almighty, phrases such as......

Oh my God or Good Lord (which I'm working on and repent every time I say it) or Jesus.......etc.

To me it is the same as using God's name in vain.

Amen! This is becoming more common to hear....even among ministers. I hate it when they are preaching and say stuff like this and they are not oven close to praying or addressing God.

Well, I don't put things on top of my Bible either. I have held to this for years.

I don't believe in women cutting their hair, wearing pants (in public), ear rings, necklaces, make up, etc... I have a conviction on those things that I believe is based on Biblical principles. The reason that I say in public about women wearing pants is because my wife and I have a strong conviction against women wearing pants at ANYTIME. If it is an abomination at any time it is all the time.

Maybe I am overboard, but I have a conviction against my wife wearing my tshirts. It is a mans garment. I have a conviction against facial hair. I know there is no scripture against it. I grew it for a SHORT while. While I was preaching one night with it I made a statement that I don't want to do anything that at first glance would identify me with the world. I shaved that night and as much as I hate to shave I just can't let it grow. It is my conviction. I don't push it on anyone. Some of these are things that are between God and I. I have made some promises to him and some things he has asked of me and I do it because I love him.

I draw the line on fellowship when people play with doctrine, I am a very strong "3 stepper". I also have to draw it at cut hair on women, long hair on men, ear rings, necklaces, pants, etc... There are somethings that I just have a hard time overlooking.

Those that don't have my view, I will be their friend and love them, but I just can't have close fellowship with them.

I have addressed many things on here but guess never really the real question either lol...

First of all let me say I appreciate your post Bro Miller and thank you for your kind attitude.

Ok first thing I have seen addressed a lot.. the putting things ontop of the bible... Nope cant do it dont know why just cant! my husband even laughed at me the other day over this one.. we were just recently talking about it and I realized there was something laying ontop of my bible.. it was one of his study books.. I moved it.. he asked why I said well its on top of my bible and its NOT EVEN KJV he just laughed and said ok honey LOL.. dont ask cuz I dont know!

I have strong personal convictions against pants, cutting hair,makeup, jewelry other than my wedding ring which I will wear, earrings, necklaces. Yes I know everyone has their own views. These are mine. I hold them dear. Its between me and God and if you dont have the same convictions as me it doesnt make you any less human and there is no reason we cannot be friends however... like Bro Miller and others have stated.. when you mess with doctrine.. then well... thats about it for me... I cant stand to hear all these new things people are coming up with that just.. well they arent there! The bible isnt meant to be torn and ripped apart and made to amount to nothing!! Big no no!!!

Bro Miller related a story about one of his convictions so I have to tell this one lol kind of funny how God works with some of us. I had just met my husband.. we were going out for dinner. I had on a pair of jeans and a really nice jacket. He had never complained once but you could see disappointment in his eyes. Well he came to get me that night and I walked out the door, and then said oh wait.. need to go change shoes.. thats all I went to do.. well. Had to have a certain pair of socks with the new shoes I was putting on so I took off the jeans.. as I went to put them back on... my leg started to hurt... then the other leg... took them off again and my legs were burnt! Yes I am not kidding! I had burn marks on my legs! So go to the closet and get a skirt,,, these burn marks were immediately gone (btw I do have pictures of this which I took trying to figure out what was happening lol) so then I come back outside and hubby says.. hey... why did you change with a grin and I said just wanted to... well waited a few weeks to put those pants or any for the matter back on... burnt again! Needless to say... I havent worn pants since at all! Yes I have slept in pajamas and have no problem with that but this girl aint puttin on a pair of pants for no one for no reason nope!

When I was in the UPCI/Oregon district it was really discouraged to wear facial hair and I didn’t know of many platforms that you could be on and certainly not ours.

You are the first to admit though that you have no scripture for it- thank you!
I love honesty.

When the Creator made us, and made woman differently then men, why do you think He gave us facial hair?

Even for woman shaving their legs and armpits- I am for it but I think this is cultural and not biblical just like men’s facial hair.
