Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
Apparently, what makes a candidate good for America is his style and panache, and how much his campaign promises and speeches match one's wishes. Pointing out their actual policy proposals and political realities is just negative "fear mongering" if they don't match the rainbows and unicorns the politician is selling us on.
America will get what it deserves. Our leaders lie to us and we live to have it so. We have become one ginormous cult of personalities.

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/13/us...migration.html
"When it comes to immigration reform, Senator Ted Cruz has made it abundantly clear what he opposes: giving citizenship to people who broke the law to come here.
What has not been as evident is what he supports: legal status for millions of people here already, while making it easier for immigrants to come here through the front door."
So Cruz is a closet amnesty supporter. Oh he'll tell YOU he's opposed to such evils, but he'll tell the NYT (not read by many of your folks) and therefore the middle-wing leftytards that he supports "common sense immigration reform".
You know, that's like a patient with tuberculosis being advised by a Dr. that instead of immediate treatment to GET RID OF THE DISEASE ORGANISMS KILLING THEIR BODY they should rather just limit or stop coming into contact with more tuberculin germs.

Just because someone doesn't feel that America represents itself well by touting "deportation" doesn't mean he is closet Amnesty.
Mitt Romney was spouting out "Self-deportation" and anyone with a brain knew that wasn't going to happen.
You can know more about how Cruz feels about immigration by "actually" listening to him and not reading what the NYT wants you to believe.
Quote:
Sen. Cruz inquired if there is any statutory measure that prevents the USCIS from using fees from legal immigrants to fund President Obama's illegal DAPA and DACA expansion programs.
The USCIS representatives refused to answer, stating, "I'm not qualified to make that kind of determination."
Sen. Cruz responded, "My first concern [with the president's executive amnesty] is that it is contrary to federal law and unconstitutional, and as I noted earlier a federal district court has agreed that it is contrary to law and has accordingly enjoined it. But another major concern is a question of fairness. That executive amnesty benefits and in fact gives preferences to those who are here illegally, and it does so to the detriment of legal immigrants, of those who have followed the law and come here legally."
Sen. Cruz concluded, "I cannot think of any other fee program, any rational fee program, that allows those who break the law to be exempt from paying the fee, but if someone is foolish enough to actually try to comply with our immigration laws, to wait at home, to wait in line for years - sometimes decades - we smack them with a fee of $1,500 or $6,200, but those who are here illegally pay nothing. That strikes me as a program that is indefensible to the American people."

Ted Cruz specifically speaking on Immigration and a plethora of issues on this Q&A. It is excellent and you can know him better by this interview.
"Improve and streamline 'Legal' Immigration."

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
Ted Cruz stands up for marriage like NO OTHER GOP Candidate.
I support him, because he is bold and he knows what he is about.
Quote:
Cruz Stands Up for Marriage
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) while in my home state of Iowa told a group at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA that, if the Supreme Court rules against state constitutional amendments defining marriage in a case currently before them, he would prod Congress to strip the court of its jurisdiction over that issue. It is a tool that Congress has applied before in the past to address the problem of a runaway court.

We need MORE people to come to America to work?
If you can't see the what-for in that there's no helping you.

There is some argument to be made about high-skilled workers. I read a report, didn't save the link from several years ago, where big corporations (Xerox and others) who were complaining that they were not getting any kids coming out of college who were educated or skilled enough to be qualified to work much less take over these large companies in the future.
So, let's not gloss over that we don't have an education problem in America. After all, we are ranked behind a lot of countries in fundamentals.
Look at this graph from 2013 regarding Math, Reading and Science. This is from Business Insider.

Yeah I've seen what those brilliant Asian engineers can do. They can derive an equation from scratch theory but give them a blank sheet of paper and they give you a blank look of puzzlement while they try to figure out what to do with it. They can copy the design of anything, but they can't conceptualize a design from nothing. They can't even get started.
Which makes their "high level math skills" pretty much worthless.
