To me it shows respect for the visiting minister. Bodyguards would seem a little strange to me. Why would someone who lives uprightly need a bodyguard?
I assume you don't bother to lock your door at night since you live uprightly?

I am not big on bodyguards for preachers but your statement against it seemed strange. I will say that many times national figures that are on TV have mentally unbalanced people who stalk them. I believe if there is security it should be discreet.

yes......he will work until there is no one else left to pray with. he loves people.

I really detest this. I think it smacks of pride and arrogance.

Is this really necessary?

What could possibly happen to a minister that they need THAT kind of protection?

So do they just come in, minister, get their offering and then split?

This really HONKS me off!!!! (could you tell?)

Where I'm at, if the preacher doesn't work in the altar service, press the flesh and fellowship afterward, he won't be invited back.
Sounds like you are in the wrong crowd??

Who said that was the crowd I was in. I don't run in that crowd.

I believe in praying for folks at altar time.

I presume you are correct. I got the impression that the bodyguards were just because the preacher was so important.

Idiots do abound. I understand having protection if the need arises. A handgun with a concealed permit makes me feel protected.

Yup. About ten years ago before he went insane Carlton Pearson was not yet married and considered quite the catch in the African American community.

My friend on his staff back then told me that one day a young woman showed up for Sunday service completely decked out in a wedding dress. She marched down and sat on the front row right in front of the pulpit.

At some point (I don't know when) she made it known that God had told her that she was going to marry Carlton Pearson and to wear that wedding dress "by faith" to his church that day!!!!!!
