On the way to that San Antonio GC we stopped at the Factory Stores in either New Braunfels or San Marcos (my memory fails me) and I left my wallet with about $1500 in cash in the dressing room of a men's store. I realized my wallet was missing about 30 minutes down the road and in those days before the internet looked at the store receipts of where we had shopped to get phone numbers to call them. First store I called told me they had my wallet in their safe. When I got there and got it back I gave the college aged young girl a $20 bill which she tried to refuse but I would not let her. I was shocked and amazed that whoever found it had not taken a single dollar.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Verse 3
Let no man DECEIVE you by any means....
So then it becomes a matter of can one be a deceiver and go to Heaven.

So Paul wrote this to protect against people using this to cause them to be troubled or shaken in their minds..neither by Spirit or by word nor by letter from us.
So it seems he is covering a lot of bases and shutting that doctrine down.
So "troubled by Spirit and word" would that be possibly false "words" from "god" and messages in "tongues" promoting this that he is warning the Church to guard against and not accept?
Usually messages about the Rapture are pretty big on troubling and shaking people's minds...it's designed for pushing people into a response based on fear.
So it seems that Paul was saying,"There's a right way and a wrong way and the end doesn't justify the means."

What? It’s not about a right and wrong way to get the message across. It’s about getting the right message across.

The troubling of their minds was because of the wrong message. Paul had already taught them the man of sin would be revealed before Jesus would come. Now others were saying Jesus could come at any minute.
They were deceiving the saints. Exactly what Paul was warning them not to allow to happen.

Absolutely. And men perhaps taking Pauls words out of context. In an earlier epistle Paul simply stated Christ would come again. 1 Thess 4:16-17
He said nothing there about the trib or man of sin. He probably assumed they understood those things already based on his earlier teaching.
2 Thess. 2:5
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

San Antonio was a great time and conference!
My last one was 2004 in Salt Lake City, I believe.
When they separated GC and NABQT, I had to choose which one to go to.
It was a fairly easy choice!
