New Pastor at Pentecostals of Gainesville

Congrats to Bro. Jimmy Toney, who was voted in as the new Pastor of the Pentecostals of Gainesville! Great man, great family. PoG elected a great Pastor.

It's going to be a bit of a change though, going from Jeff Arnold to Jimmy Toney!

Drastic change!

I wonder who took over Pastor Toney's church in Omaha?

Bro. Toney has been gone from Omaha for a few years now. They moved to KY and started a church there. He was elected the UPCI Home Missions Director in 2015.

Bro. Myron Powell has been the Pastor of The Church of Omaha and doing very well.

Re: New Pastor at Pentecostals of Gainesville

Was this due to Jeff Arnold's recent health issues, the fact he is old enough to retire, or something else?

Re: New Pastor at Pentecostals of Gainesville

Congratulations to Bro. Jimmy Toney, who was voted in as the new Pastor of the Pentecostals of Gainesville!

I'm sorry to hear that Bro. Arnold might be having health issues. He is one of my favorite preachers. He used to regularly attend the annual gathering called The FEAST at the church I originally attended as a young man.

(FEAST stood for = Featuring Evangelism Apostolic Singing and Teaching)

I knew Bro. Arnold had some health issues last year, but I'm not sure he is still. I thought he's just getting old and ready to have someone else take the leadership. He's still going to be there as the Bishop, IIRC.

It is my understanding that it is due to health issues but he is not leaving. Bishop Arnold and Pastor Toney will lead the church going forward.

Re: New Pastor at Pentecostals of Gainesville

I checked with a buddy of mine who is a member of that church and it was really a combination of things. JA is 72 years old so ready to retire. I think the health issues made him desire to have an orderly transition to a new pastor rather than the church have to deal with a sudden void should something happen to him (as something will happen to all of us at some point!).
