Re: Need help with a question...

I did not know if you also meant sisters who are still with us?

I was really trying to remember sisters from long ago. It is odd that I cannot remember the faithful women from back in the day... The elders and bishops I recall well, but my mind goes blank when it comes to the women of faith.

Re: Need help with a question...

I work today and tomorrow. My next day off, I can provide a list of a dozen or two Apostolic women ministers. Actually, prior to WW2, they were quite common.

Re: Need help with a question...

Reverend Agnes (Clark) Holmes went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6th, 2015, at her home in Sherwood, Arkansas, at the age of 93 years. She was born November 13th, 1921 in Franklin County, Mississippi, to Byrd and Ida (Holland) Clark. Sister Holmes began her preaching ministry at the age of 16.
Sister Agnes Clark married the late Bishop Arlie Otis Holmes in Tylertown, Mississippi, in September of 1940. Together they evangelized in the South, holding brush arbor meetings, tent revivals, and preaching in small rural churches. Bishop and Sister A. O. Holmes founded several churches throughout southern Mississippi and Louisiana, many of which are still in existence today.
In May of 1946, the Holmes family moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas to take the pastorship of the First Pentecostal Church —a small church on East Washington Street. Throughout the 1950's and 1960's, many people received the Acts 2:38-Jesus Name message. Souls were added to the church and buildings were expanded to accommodate the growing congregation. It was during this time that Buckeye Christian School, Lakewood Children's Home, and other auxiliary ministries were established. Sister Holmes could be heard weekly preaching on the "Hour of Deliverance" radio broadcast.
Throughout the pastoral tenure of Bishop and Sister A.O. Holmes, Sister Holmes traveled across the nation preaching revivals at various churches. After Bishop Holmes had a debilitating stroke in 1969, the church elected the son of Bishop and Sister A.O. Holmes to be the pastor of First Pentecostal Church.
During the 1970's, Sister Agnes Holmes, along with Bishop Holmes, traveled extensively in a motor home, holding revivals. The powerful ministry of this couple touched many lives. Sister Holmes has written many songs, some of which have been recorded. She authored three books that have been reprinted numerous times. Sister Holmes has traveled internationally to preach the Gospel. She will be remembered for her wit, sense of humor, incredible faith, and powerful ability to preach about Eternity.
Sister Agnes Holmes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Ruebel V. Holmes. She is survived by five children: Juanita (Holmes) Beall of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Arlene (Holmes) Smith of Benton, Arkansas; Pastor Joel N. Holmes of Sherwood, Arkansas; Faith (Holmes) Cavin and Sharon (Holmes) Brewer, both of Sherwood, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren, and thirty-two great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. (This was her obituary)
