It's basically a redress of the old Gnostic teaching that God was "too pure" to be natural flesh or anything else from this natural world.
As far as "early Apostolic fathers," no they condemned it to the man. Of course to be an "Apostolic father" or "Father of the Church" you had to teach things acceptable to the Old Catholic faith. Gnosticism was very popular early on, but it was eventually over run, only to pop up again from time to time like among the Albigensians and others. It was never the "official" or even majority view.

I'm quite proud of myself ... ACTUALLY. [NO SURPRISE.]
My average posts are down from 84 per day, after the first month, to about 45 a day ... AND DESCENDING.
I'm sure multiple bans played a factor ... and I may hold the record on most infractions ... ALTHOUGH they have been thrown into the SEA OF FORGETFULNESS.
