Re: How Modernized Is Apostolic?

William Parham was the first to use it in connection with Pentecostalism. But that was several years prior to 1914.

I am not sure of how the word "apostolic" was first used to describe Spanish Apostolic Assembly churches.

What a interesting question !!!

It was used by the Apostolic Catholic Church at least as far back as the early eighteen hundreds.

Re: How Modernized Is Apostolic?

Also, the term Apostolici ("Apostolics") was used by several non catholic Christian groups in the 3rd and 4th centuries, and again by other non catholic Christian groups in the 12th-14th centuries.

Re: How Modernized Is Apostolic?

I suspect the original question to mean when did the term "apostolic" have the distinct meaning of the Acts 2:38 message.

Since the "revelation" did not come until 1914, it came then, or afterwards. That assumes apostolic=oneness.

Re: How Modernized Is Apostolic?

The first use of the word Apostolic that I know of was the Apostolic Faith Mission, and then the Apostolic Faith papers in the early 1900s. Both of them were Trinitarian.

I think "Apostolic" was originally associated with the Acts 2:38 message, not with Oneness.
