Re: Southern Gospel

I went to a revival in the early '80s and the Magruders tore it up. "Never been this homesick before" sung with power!

Re: Southern Gospel

I have a wide spectrum of taste in music/artists. Here's just a few of my southern gospel favorites...

Dottie Rambo - www.dottierambo.net/
Sharron Kay King - http://www.sharronkayking.com/
The Dunaways - http://www.dunawaymusic.com/
The Collingsworth Family - http://www.thecollingsworthfamily.com/
HisSong - http://www.hissongmusic.com/
Heirline - http://www.heirline.com/
Gordon Mote - http://www.gordonmote.com/
The Crabb Family (including mom and dad) - http://www.thecrabbfamily.com/
Mike Bowling - http://www.bowlingsonline.com/
Gold City (the original group with tenor Jay Parrack, who left in '04, and bass Tim Riley) - http://www.goldcityqt.com
Susie Luchsinger (sister to Reba McEntire) - http://www.susiemcentire.com/

Actually, I listed more than I originally intended; once I got started, it was kind of hard to stop. I'd love to hear of others and respond accordingly...

Re: Southern Gospel

I was just wondering~ Is there ANY different kind of music? LOL. Just kidding. But I am from southern Ohio and I know what Southern Gospel is and that is my kind of music. I never did get into contempory. (now I know that is not spelled right- but I am sure that you all get what I am meaning).

Re: Southern Gospel

I know of nothing with less feeling or lack of the moving of the Spirit of God than contemporary christian music.

I attended UPC camp meeting in Jackson, TN several weeks ago and the music was about having it so loud it'd raise you off the floor. Loud = anointing to them I guess. It was nothing but screaming jigging singers, screaming rock guitars, pounding drums and thumping bass and I literally had to put my fingers in my ears it was so painful.

Spiritually, something's terribly wrong with the current trend in alleged gospel music folks.
