Double standard?

I was reading the rules for youth camp that my son will be going to.

The girls are to wear skirts a couple inches below the knees and the boys pants. Why is ok for a girl to wear skirts past their knees but boys can't wear long shorts past their knees??

Double standard?

Double standard?
I'd probably wear long shorts and call them short pants.

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Funny, the long shorts, or short pants, are far more modest than the skirts.

I say make both full length and take the guess work, and the inching rebellion, right out of it.

You rebel!

"What are you rebelling against Johnny?"

"What have you got?"

I say don't make an issue out of young boys wearing shorts.

How can we logically present an argument that knee length shorts on a man are more immodest than knee length skirts on women? This argument is so relative and vague. It seems that there is no scriptural evidence being used to support a claim that shorts are immodest.

Further, consider the biblical example of girding the loins. A man would tie his robe up in his belt, exposing most of his legs for all to see. This was done when one engaged in any strenuous activity from warfare to recreational pursuits.

Here is one biblical example of such a practice.

But the hand of the LORD was on Elijah, who girded up his clothing and ran before Ahab as far as the approaches to Jezreel. (NAB)

How can one say that shorts are immodest when the biblical record paints an entirely different picture?
