No, but we are called to stand and oppose sin in all of its forms. . . .
It's a sin not to be a Christian, yes? Just as much as it is a sin to murder, yes? So, if the laws of the land should be based on the only true source of a moral code, shouldn't it be the law that you should not kill or steal, etc., and that you must be a Christian?
Just askin'.

Because when government gets in the business of legislating morality then it often gets it wrong and religious folks love that bandwagon too... so it goes too far too fast.
Our government is there to assure the rights of the people are not infringed upon. Not to ensure that we live holy. We should be free to live as we want to live as long as we do not infringe upon the rights of others.

Aren't most of the laws (maybe all?) we have today actually "legislating morality"? Murder is immoral and illegal. Stealing, ditto. Is it the "victimless crime" question that makes the difference?

Maybe the US is too far gone, for this question to be practical. So, think of it this way: You find an unoccupied island, unowned, unclaimed by any country. You decide to live there and establish a new country. What laws would you set up?

The RCC already tried this..All it did was created a bunch(not all of them) of unregenerated false professors bent on murder and fortune for political gain. This gospel is voluntary and always must be.
So no the US shouldn't force convert.

Yes... but isn't the immorality of it that makes it punishable by law.
It is the fact that someone...
Murdered SOMEONE ELSE.
Stole from SOMEONE ELSE.
They infringed upon another persons life, liberty, property etc.

The US is too far gone. They have followed the path of every other similar society in history.
I would make laws that protect the freedom of others to live, have liberty and pursue happiness to the extent that it does not infringe upon the rights of others. And then... some 200+ years down the road it would fail miserably.
Man can only live free for so long and then they self destruct soon after learning that they can vote for themselves largess from the public treasury.
