Essential as in three commands or essential as in two commands and a promise to all believers?


Some folks read Acts 2:38 to say.. repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ which means the preacher says the phrase for the remission of sins and ye MUST receive the Holy Ghost ( a command)

See if we keep in traditional reading.. REpent, be baptized in Jesus name (someone calling on the name of the Lord; acts 22:16) and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost ( a promise)
