Iranian Ships Thru Suez Canal; 1st Time in 32 Yrs

Israel is concerned that Egypt's new military leadership has given permission to two Iranian warships to pass through the Suez Canal and steam pass Israel's shore in route to Israel's enemy to the north, Syria tomorrow or Wednesday. For the past 32 years, since the revolution in Iran, Egypt has not allowed Iranian shiping through the Canal. Iran has been caught red-handed on several occasions shipping weapons to terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah. On Sunday a frigate and a supply ship were near the southern entrance to the canal on Sunday.

Anwar Sadat and Hosni Mubarak both distrusted the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Mubarak believed Iran was seeking to create Islamic regimes throughout the Middle East, including Egypt and worked to counter their influence in the region. With Mubarak gone it appears Iran is attempting to reach further into the region and influence the affairs in various countries there. Israel's fear is that this gesture is a signal to Tehran that the new Egypt is willing to do business with Iran and is no longer committed to its strategic alliance with Israel against them.

The Middle East is as unstable as it has been in quite a while. We will pay immediately in higher oil prices at the least which will further complicate our economic recovery. If regimes in Lybia, Bahrain and elsewhere fall, the Islamists will be ready to fill the power vacuum.

Newseek, not a conservative media outlet recently had a cover article defining Obama's Middle East policy as a failure. Read the article: http://www.newsweek.com/2011/02/13/w...r-america.html

Unfortunately many voters in 2008 got caught up in the frenzy that the telegenic Obama created. He looked good, was young, had a great stage presence and said things that made people feel good. To many of us his radical associations, his many public statements, his ultra-liberal track record and his lack of executive experience caused us to worry that four years of a Obama presidency would be a disaster. I'm sorry to say it appears were right.

And I'd rather wish we were wrong. His failures are hurting all of us and putting our freedoms and the peace and freedoms enjoyed by our allies at risk. While the GOP-led House might help stop the bleeding domestically, the Office of the President sets the foreign policy agenda. His inaction in Egypt, now in Lybia and in Bahrain and elsewhere is undermining the trust our allies have in us. It will take years to regain what is being lost and in some cases may never be restored.

Funny, the Obama administration thinks the protests in the Middle East are wonderful but the Tea Party gatherings and Tra Party outbursts in town hall meetings are "dangerous".

The ships won't pass through Israeli waters.

But they will pass closer to Israel than they have been allowed to in over three decades. Its significant.

If Israel is bold enough they will board the ships and inspect their cargo.

Even though they never come within 175 miles of Israel?

What authority would they have to do that?

Knowing that they are taking weapons to Syria should be enough.

They wouldn't know that. They would be searching to see if that were the case. Possibly searching without warrant.

Is it illegal to take weapons to Syria?

I don't know how they could do that. The ships will be in international waters. It's a shame that someone doesn't just blow those ships out of the water.

What authority did they have to take out Iraq's nuclear reactor? What authority did they have to take out Syria's nuclear reactor? Do you think they care a lick about international permission?
