Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!

I dont really care for that, but if you do its ok with me, i like worship songs like"He still Speaks"or"Like an Eagle" by the Mcgruders etc. BTW, i believe that is the one and only ST MARK? looks like him, from way back, on the key board, seems like a nice guy.

Exactly.

Shocking!!
And just what would I have gotten out of being in that service?

What did you get out of it?

I don't endorse Barnum & Bailey, but I'm amazed that some of you allowed your aversion to the circus environment to cause a complete rejection of biblical examples of praise.

No, not at all.

Bingo. That pretty much sums my thoughts.

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!

I have difficulty imagining Christ or His disciples working a crowd to a frenzy by saying things like,

"You can do better than that!", "Come on now, he has been better to you than that. Don't sit down on God!", "The more you worship, the bigger your blessing!" "ok let's sing that one more time... This time let's show him that we really love Him!"

However, at the same time, I can imagine spontaneous demonstative praise in the assembly of his saints. Not in any effort to impress God or observers, but a natural outflow of jubilant heartfelt worship.

Big difference.

To me one is appealing and the other appalling.

I love circus environments - and I have seen some of the worlds finest. Yet, when the church tries to produce a show of manufactured calisthenics it's often exactly what it appears to be - nothing but cheap tricks.

I should add that my comments here are in response to the greater discussion of the thread, and not simply a personal response to the initial video.

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!

Don't let others judge how you worship, and don't judge how others worship. Worship should be personal, between us and God.
