Re: House Rep Scalise Shot

"I have just been informed that the alleged shooter at the Republican baseball practice is someone who apparently volunteered on my presidential campaign," Sanders said in a statement delivered on the Senate floor.

"I am sickened by this despicable act. Let me be as clear as I can be: Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms," he added.

The Vermont senator said real change can only be achieved "through nonviolent action, and anything else runs against our most deeply held American values."

"My hopes and prayers are that Representative Scalise, congressional staff and the Capitol Police Officers who were wounded make a quick and full recovery," he said.

"I also want to thank the Capitol Police for their heroic actions to prevent further harm."

Forget open carry, they need to pass a nationwide conceal carry bill. There are several states already that allow anyone who can legally possess a firearm to conceal carry without a license, which is as it should be.

Re: House Rep Scalise Shot

Bernie Sanders just unequivocally condemned the shooting and all violent acts. He said that change must only come by non violent means.

David beat me to it.

Bernie has something to tell you:

"""Let me be as clear as I can be: Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms.

The Vermont senator said real change can only be achieved "through nonviolent action, and anything else runs against our most deeply held American values."""

You do realize that people still die even with socialized medicine, right?

You also seem to be saying that the shooting is justified.
Sick.
I'm not saying it's justified. I'm just saying that I'm not so stupid that I didn't see it coming. Policies effect people's lives. They effect their loved ones. Any idiot could see that it would be only a matter of time before someone off balance decided to do something crazy.

I don't support violence against conservatives. I'm just saying that I'm not so stupid that I couldn't see it coming. Washington is messing with people's lives. Somewhere down the line, somebody is going to snap. That's common sense.

Imagine a vet who is struggling to get veterans benefits. His marriage is on the rocks and he is struggling to find work that pays enough to survive. His twin sister gets sick and has no insurance. Eventually, after several months of struggle, she dies. The man spins into a depression. Soon, his wife moves to her mom's. And... there's Paul Ryan laughing it up on CSPAN as they pass legislation that will bring back pre-existing conditions, insurance coverage caps, and will cause several million of much needed health insurance.

All this guy feels he has left is how well he shoots. Don't tell me you don't see the danger that could begin to unfold.

I am not.
However, when you make a political issue of a personal tragedy over and over, it makes me questions some things.
I frankly believe A has some unresolved guilt over his mothers death.
His way of dealing with this is to blame others.
First, I don't care what you think.

Second, I'm not the first person whose personal tragedy influenced the way they began looking at things. Consider victims of school shootings that support bans on semi-automatic weapons. Imagine kids who grow up after having lost a dad or older brother in the war deciding to join the military and serve the cause.

The fact is, my mom died in 2007. If she had the insurance to see the specialists she needed to see, there is a good probability she'd be alive today. She was only 54. As I looked into it, I came to realize that thousands of other Americans were losing loved ones who couldn't get the care they needed simply because of lack of insurance. This caused me to realize... American can do better. Every advanced Western nation already has universal health insurance, every nation except the United States that is. And the only reason why we don't have it is because Big Insurance and Big Drug Companies are bribing the politicians to keep things they way they are because they are raking in record profits.

I'm no monster. I just don't see why this should happen to anyone in the wealthiest nation on earth.

Yet I would never...NEVER...condone violence against liberals or the media as Aquila did in his post condoning this attack on GOP members of Congress.
I never "condoned" it. I'm saying that I'm not so stupid that I couldn't see some looney doing it.

That's the problem with conservatives. Our dead loved ones are just "props" to them. They don't realize... we watched them die. And when they die needlessly, it can cause us to become advocates for the cause that might have saved them.

Yes, to revolt against the nation's founding, the restraints of the constitution, and the rule of law. Remember, events like this shooting are the Democrats' way of explaining by which set of rules they want to play the game. Fine. But you will not like the outcome when conservatives fight back. Liberals who are not eliminated will be deported.
