I'm considering abandoning the internet

Hello folks, I've tried to refrain from too much posting but this caught my attention. I was seduced by the net in 1999. I had been in church for about 15 yrs. I had several positions in the church, P.A. man, maintenance and men's fellowship leader, usher, etc.etc. I had refused TV, and sports, dressed modest and thought I was strong in the Lord. I also went to the church to pray every morning, and hardly ever missed a service. Then after a cell phone, I bought a pc. Then the enemy came in like a flood, my thoughts and life were devastated. I was divorced and left the church. Should I blame the net?
I think not but it didn't help. It took me 12 years of being backslid to find my altar again, and another 3-4 years of great teaching and preaching to see the gifts of the Spirit working through me again. The net is just a tool. It's like a dangerous power tool though, and ever self imposed precaution should be taken. When you drive a car there are rules to live by, and when you hold a chainsaw in your hand you don't let the babies near you do you? We can win in Jesus Name when we Magnify His Word, that's the only Way, He's the only Truth. You can part the sea of iniquity with a spoonful of hospitality, charity. Paul is right, as disciples of truth, give like Jesus does. You got Air? Plead the blood! Shalom

It's an abomination for a person who makes a tutorial to receive compensation for their work? That's why there are ads. The person creating the video allowed ads to receive compensation. Most videos can be skipped after 5 seconds, and others I've seen which cannot be skipped past are only 15 seconds long. Not a big deal for getting a free tutorial.

YouTube has been "monetized" and commercialized. Nobody wants to see an ad for Life Insurance or Doritos or diebeetus or...

The original premise behind YouTube was for individuals to upload their own videos. It's gone down hill ever since it became monetized, with SEO manipulation, fake views and fake commenters, DMCA takedowns (often fake and/or fraudulent, you'd be surprised how often that occurs), stupid commercials, political censorship, blah blah blah.

Hey, if it works for you and you're happy, more power to ya. I'm just getting tired of the entire internet concept altogether, aside from shopping for particular items not available locally the whole thing pretty much bores me at this point.

Does it give us the ability to hold more people responsible for their actions?
The fact that I can use my phone to record a crime, give evidence to the police, or post it online and have it go viral is amazing.

of course, it is a two edged sword like many other things.
