Good Morning,
I've always believed in monotheism and will do until the good lord comes or I'm put 6 feet underground.
However, yesterday I was reading the bible and was having a little trouble understating a scripture. Can any theologian (lol) here assist me in interpreting this scripture?
My interpretation are in parentheses
Jesus spoke these words in
John 16:13:
But when he
(Holy Ghost), the Spirit of truth
(Holy Ghost), comes, he
(Holy Ghost) will guide you into all the truth. He
(Holy Ghost) will not speak on his own; he
(Holy Ghost) will speak only what he
(Holy Ghost) hears, and he
(Holy Ghost) will tell you what is yet to come.
Every time the scripture above references "he," it's referring to the Holy Ghost. Here's what I don't understand. Jesus said, "He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears"
Essentially, Jesus is saying that the Holy Ghost will not speak on his own, but only what the Holy Ghost hears. Who is the Holy Ghost hearing from and why is the Holy Ghost speaking words that another person is speaking?
What person is the Holy Ghost hearing speak?
