The link is to a video of what appears to be a 'testimony service' of some kind.

At about 3 minutes a woman appears to be giving thanks for Jim Jones being a 'father' who miraculously provides and answers prayers, as opposed to 'a sky god' that the woman claims to have prayed to for 30 years and got no answers from.

Creepy.

Preaching begins at 13:30 after some song that sounds like it goes 'Breathe out, breathe out! Breathe out, breathe out, breathe out!'.

13:50 'you can lift yourself up by your own boot-straps, and become your own God'...

"I come in the phenomenon of religion to get people out of religion!"

He is preaching a mixture of what appears to be Religious Science and Marxist-humanist-atheistic revolutionary ideology.

He clearly at 17 minutes claims the only solution is socialism, and then claims that he himself is the fulfillment of a prophecy of Isaiah...

He literally repeatedly taught that HE IS GOD.

I cannot fathom how so many people can fall for this stuff.

Upon doing some further research, I see that Jones' primarily recruited from mental hospitals, drug addicts, street people, and other groups, including poor minorities.

I can see some being attracted to the socialist thing, and many were mentally unstable so they fell for the parlour tricks and 'I am god' nonsense.

I do know that the whole Jonestown thing was most likely a CIA op, as Jones' connections to the intel community were greater than even Oswald's...

My understanding is that many of his followers were well educated. Wonder if that's truly the case?
