Bro. 1399,
Your post reminded me of a song my niece has sung at church. It's
called "I Miss My Time With You" by Larnelle Harris.
by Larnelle Harris
"there he was just waiting,
in our old familiar place
an empty spot beside him,
where once i used to wait
to be filled with strength and wisdom
for the battles of the day
i would have passed him by again
if i didn't hear him say
(chorus)
i miss my time with you
those moments together
i need to be with you each day
and it hurt's me when you say
you're too busy
busy trying to serve me
but how can you serve me
when your spirit's empty
there's a longing in my heart
wanting more than just a part of you
it's true
i miss my time with you
what do i have to offer
how can i truly care
my efforts have no meaning
when your presence isn,t there
but you will provide the power
if i take time to pray
i'll stay right here beside him
and you will never have to say..
This song touched my heart to think that the very God of glory would
have to feel so lonely. That His people were so busy going through the
motions of serving Him that they had no time to spend intimately with
HIM. Quite time, quality time. Time to tell Him how much we love Him.
Time to just be still and know that He is God. To feel His Presence.
Could it be that the reason the divorce rate is so high is because "things"
get in the way! Desiring "things" more than lovers of God. Even in churches
today, activities that keep parents busy, work schedules, church activities,
etc. If we lose our marriages, our children, it won't be long until we will
possibly lose out with God. I see so many single parents trying so hard to
manage home, work, school, church, etc. Our world is SO out of order, it
is so sad. From the home to the church house. From the schoolhouse to
the White House. And as I have said before, when things are out of order,
God's Order, there will be problems. And when those things out of order,
start backing up, you will see a backlash. And oh what a mess comes out
of that backlash. Those things that come back to haunt you from the
"little plumbing problem" or other problem that was neglected or you didn't
have or take time to fix, will steal your joy for sure.
Bro. 1399, bless your heart! Your post touched me and went deep. You see
what it triggered. If we would just be still and know, and listen for that still
small voice. But with so much Sound (noise) and Fury (busyness) in our lives
it is difficult. We MUST withdraw from the things that would keep us from
hearing His Sweet Voice. We Must withdraw and spend time with JESUS,
LOVER of my soul!
My late father occasionally quoted bits of Wm. Shakespeare. One quote
that stands out. "Sound and Fury, signifying Nothing". He would use that to
show how the enemy would try to threaten our lives with the loud sound of
Sound and Fury, which really meant nothing but noise and busyness! Didn't
really amount or mean anything. Not worth the time and effort given to it.
Perhaps Sound and fury have stolen much from our homes, our churches
and our lives. Failure to take time to be intimate with HIM, in quiteness and
in confidence.
Isaiah 30:15, "For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In return-
ing and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your
strength: and ye would not.
I doubt we would be looking to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary next
July IF there had not been time taken for quiet time and intimacy in our marri-
age. Being TOO busy for the most important things will cause the loss of
precious things. TOO busy to spend quiet and intimate times with the Lover
of our SOUL could cause us to lose our soul. We need to stay humble and
still before the Keeper of our soul.
Turn your eyes upon JESUS, look full in His Wonderful Face;
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the Light of His Glory and Grace.
Hugs,
