If those are only man-made standards, then absolutely 1,000,000,000% yes.
I would disagree, Z...rebellion in any form, for any reason is just wrong.

I think we can disagree without being rebellious....Usually there is a spirit with people that rebel on every hand about every thing...Our heart has a lot to do with what our tongue says....

I would have to disagree with your disagreement. You can't rebel against something in which you don't believe in. If the pastor believes and teaches against one thing but you don't agree with the way he sees the scripture is that rebellion? The very reason we have so many different views is because scripture is not a clear as one might make it seem.

One can preach holiness without setting some standard set by a preacher.

Re: Should we teach others to rebel against standa

A pastor has the sacred responsibility of staying within the Word of God. Any time a pastor steps outside of the boundaries of Scripture and preaches a private interpretation, it is the sacred duty of the Body of Christ to refuse such a teaching.

Pastors are not popes. Pastors are not kings. Pastors "serve" the body.

We need a Bible Revival.

Re: Should we teach others to rebel against standa

This is how the Catholic church began a few short generations after the Apostles. Men began to teach their traditions and Roman cultural customs as doctrine.

We need a Bible Revival.

Re: Should we teach others to rebel against standa

The word "rebellion" is a serious charge. Rebellion is an act of resistance against a duly authorized authority. The moment a pastor steps outside of the Word of God, it can be argued that they (or at least what they are requiring) is not under Scriptural authority. And so, rebellion against man then becomes obedience towards God.

How can one rebel... against a law that doesn't exist???

We need a Bible Revival.

Re: Should we teach others to rebel against standa

In the sitting of the "church" of today...I think there is a civil way of disagreeing...at least with most people. I disagree with many things on AFF but do my best to be nice. After all God is the judge of all things.
I know there are bitter times that we must walk away from people...however I have learned over the years to try to be kind...I regret a situation where I feel I was unkind in some of my remarks...even though I felt like what I was saying was truth...life teaches us a lot of lessons...be a learner...

Re: Should we teach others to rebel against standa

Martin Luther, whatever one might think of him, nailed his 95 Theses to the door of Wittenberg Castle church. In that theses, Luther listed 95 contentions with Roman Catholic power and efficacy of indulgences. This 95 Theses, would later become the foundation of the Protestant Reformation and fuel the movement to translate the Scriptures into the more common tongues of the common man.

Isn't it sad that it took 1,517 years for a Catholic priest to ignite a theological debate big enough to question the abuses and false doctrines of Rome??? Are we going to have to wait 1,517 years before demanding critical review of the doctrines of man that are hanging like a noose around our necks??? Quite you like men!

Perhaps if someone took a stand against the unbiblical teachings of the Roman Catholic church over a thousand years earlier, we wouldn't have seen the beast that evolved from man's twisted schemes, false doctrines, and authoritarian power grabbing.

I'm sure that according to established Roman Catholic authority Martin Luther was considered to be in "rebellion". But was he? Or might he have been an honest soul, who saw no basis for Roman Catholic practices in Scripture???

If viewed in the light of history, those who "rebel" from unauthorized authority within the Apostolic church might actually be discovered to be the ones who saved it from the error of the false doctrines and traditions of men.

We need a Bible Revival.

Re: Should we teach others to rebel against standa

At this moment, all the rebellious hearts are applauding and
are plotting to wield the above paragraphs to wreak havoc in their
churches. If that is you, dear rebellious heart, you have missed our
point by a considerable distance. We do not stand with you. Our
advice: Either leave your church quietly, refusing to cause division, or
be at peace with it. There is a vast gulf between rebellion and taking
a stand for what is true.

Re: Should we teach others to rebel against standa

Remember, as the Roman Catholic Church was being formed, good men, of good moral fiber, were humbly beseeching men to "submit" to ecclesiastical authority in the name of "obedience" and "unity". Their cause seemed noble. Their cause seemed godly. But as history will show, error breeds error. And in the end, we have a bloated, gluttonous, whore of a religion with the blood of over 68 million on her hands from over 1,260 years of bloody persecution, inquisitions, and war.

Don't fool yourselves. When you see these doctrines and traditions of man peppered throughout the Apostolic church, you have to see what it really is. It is what the Roman Catholic Church looked like among true believers prior to hatching and becoming the beast we read about in history. Are we so foolish, so cowardly, so spiritually spineless, that we quiver and shake at the knees afraid of challenging what will one day become a new form of "papal" authority???

Rebellion against man is obedience towards God.

We need a Bible revival.
