New gaming computer

I need to buy a new gaming computer.
I'm not really all that computer savvy.

How does this one look, and do you think it's reasonably priced?

I'm not personally a fan of prebuilt computers, but the specs seem okay. Mid-range, but decent. The only exception is the RAM. I'd recommend getting 16GB of RAM instead. 8GB is fine for a basic computer, but pretty much the bare minimum for gaming. Though that's something you could always do later, if need be. The video card isn't great, but it will play most games at 1080p with medium-high settings.

Pair that with a decent 144Hz monitor, and it should serve you pretty well.

Thank you, I will look for something with more RAM and better video card.

For gaming you might want to also look at an i7 processor vs the i5 this system has. The advice on more RAM is good advice. For gaming 16gb would be much better than 8. Also a better graphics card than the 1650 would be nice. Of course all of these add up to probably considerably more money.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

With the current generations, i7 is a unnecessary for just gaming. The current gen i5's are already 6 core / 12 thread chips. 8 cores just for gaming is overkill. Won't hurt anything to upgrade it, but it's certainly not critical. Personally, I'm more partial to the AMD Ryzen chips, but either will work fine.

This is all right in my wheelhouse. I work at a small computer store, and we custom build systems all the time for customers.

What about a laptop primarily dedicated to audio recording/mixing and video editing/graphics?

Also, is it even possible to get a working PC/laptop WITHOUT any of Gates' microsux windoze viruses-masquerading-as-operating-systems installed?

You can buy brand new laptops and desktops with Linux pre-installed:

I have been using Linux for personal computing for decades. At some point more than a decade ago, I bought a mac to replace my linux laptop, and that lasted only 6months before I went and sold it and went back to linux. A year ago I needed a new computer, and a friend convinced me to by a Mac, so I did. Today, a year later, I'm done with the mac and going back to Linux. I bought a new computer and I'm putting Fedora in it, and selling my mac.

We used Linux at work, Fedora specifically, for a long time. Then, they switched everybody to Mac, and now we are having talks of going back to Linux workstations again. I'll be piloting the project. It will be Red Hat workstations instead of Fedora.

Linux Desktop is being used more and more in the industry, in Software Development, and Sys Administration, and other Scientific stuff. Linux on bare metal machines, but also Linux Desktop VMs on AWS, where people basically have a cheap laptop, and log in AWS and start their Linux Desktop VM workstation and remote desktop to it. The remote desktop VMs option is also becoming very popular.
