What do you think of this SOF?
What do you think of this statement of faith? I think it’s fabulous.

IMO this type of wording seems a little charismatic to me. "prayer language" is if one can turn it on and turn it off.
Other than that it seems great.

Prayer language is praying to God in tongues. We are commanded to do so at all times. That is New Testament, not "Charismatic"

We are not commanded to pray in tongues at all times. If we are to fallow the example of the Apostles we are to pray in the spirit and pray with the understanding also. I have heard of church leaders telling everyone in the congregation to turn on their prayer language. this is confusion.

Instead of being a necessary part of the new birth, it's "available" to every believer. I don't agree with that.

Too bad he's all the way up in Manitoba. I'd love to attend his church.

yeah, I'd love to know the reason why it is stated that way.

That is one of the reasons why I can no longer accept the way UPCI teaches, there is not place that Peter commanded to be filled with the spirit of God. He commands to repent and to be baptized, but he does not command fillment of the holy spirit. When we start turning everything into a commandment we start to get in trouble. Why does everything have to be a commandment any way. Jesus taught to love God with all your heart soul and mind, and love your neighbor as your self. Every thing falls under these two commandment any way one way or another if you really stop and thing about it. Even the way we dress concerns the way we are loving our neighbor.
