Re: Are We Eating Too Much?
We are a nation of extremes. Fat or skinny, most of us are not average, whatever that is.

Used to be. In prayer, the Lord showed me how to get my appetite under control. It took a lifestyle change, though. Completely changed my diet, lost 40 lbs., began exercising and running, dropped my cholesterol from 346 to 177! Feel a lot better now.

Re: Are We Eating Too Much?
To answer the ?____________yes, as a whole we do eat too much. Look at other folks grocery carts as you shop to get the "big" picture (pun intended).
I try to be careful and eat healthy, BUT I love to bake and tend to eat the goodies.
The Dairy allergy is a help in a way...........not much available to just grab and go.
Read labels----milk,cream,butter,whey,casein,> you get the picture.
In the 18 mos since going dairy free I've lost 23lb.

Re: Are We Eating Too Much?
I read this scripture a while ago and I think it pertains to the question posed on this thread... basically it is it a sin to be "fat"? Or, are we eating too much?
Luke 21:34-36 "Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkeness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worth to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man." Definition of SURFEIT
1: an overabundant supply : excess
2: an intemperate or immoderate indulgence in something (as food or drink)
3: disgust caused by excess
Evidently surfeiting must have been something Jesus was concerned about, because he lumped it right in there with drunkenness, and cares of this life..... and he said it would be a snare upon all them that dwell on the face of the earth.
Sigh... I need to lose some weight and stop surfeiting... LOL! Anyone else feel the same way?

Re: Are We Eating Too Much?
Colorado is supposedly our healthiest state,
wherein 50% of the residents are considered overweight.
I've read all the books above, and all are good as far as they go.
ER4YT seems to be better for learning what foods an individual
might specifically avoid; I can report a complete remission of
phlegm on it, "smokers cough" even disappeared...
I think The Metabolic Typing Diet is also
a great read, many copycats now-
-not really a diet. Fit for Life was
pretty good (I sold Diamond a stereo
in Sarasota), but there are similar
updated regimes that reflect the evolving
info.
"Being fat is not a sin" hmm...

Re: Are We Eating Too Much?
I've witnessed amazing weight loss in people
that ate jerky as a snack, instead of carbs.
Almost universally, you can stuff yourself w/carbs,
and still be starving for protein (or fat), leading most to
eat more carbs...seek Metabolic Typing.
Eat 3g of Omega 3 every day; you will normalize.
