WPF-what now

Now that the dust has settled and the new organization has been through a few cycles, what are your opinions on where we go from here?

It seems like those that are going to leave the UPC, have already left. The GIB's that wanted to join the new org, have joined. I'd say that everyone else will stand pat, so that means the stream of new churches joining the organization has slowed to a very small trickle.

Being a part of the organization, I have a pretty good idea of what's going on inside. I've been to many prominent meetings, and I don't hear any bashing of other organizations. I don't hear any brow beating preaching at the meetings. I hear mostly, lets win souls! I hear, lets have real revival! I do hear some holiness preaching but it's mostly in love and in good context.

So where do we go from here? I don't see the WPF going the way of the ACI. I believe it's more on the path of the ALJC, but going in a more conservative direction. I know good men from the WPF will continue starting churches. I know of several in our close proximity that are doing just that. I know of several men who have taken prominent independent churches, and are leaning them towards the organization. All of this to me points to sustainable, incremental growth. Which IMO, is a good thing for the Kingdom.

Having preached in UPC, WPF and GIB churches in the past year, I know there are great men and great churches everywhere. However, I appreciate being part of an org because it provides more opportunities for fellowship with the people of God. Also, IMHO the preaching every year at Peak and Summit are 2nd to none.

All of this leads me to believe, the WPF is here to stay. Having established a solid foundation of churches and now adding to that foundation with new daughter works and the like, I'm glad to say the organization should be around for years to come.

God Bless

Having served in some official capacities for both the WPF and the UPCI, I believe I can say that the split has done both orgs good.
Much of the reason for this has been that neither has bashed each other, nor has "punished" those who chose to associate with those of the other org.
I would attribute this to good leadership on both sides.
Just my quick thoughts.

Re: WPF-what now

I am not well versed in either organization.

So explain it to us outsiders, what is the difference between the UPCI, the WPF and the GIB.

I am puzzled, maybe I can join one of them, what do they believe (main points) and what are the requirements to be ordained by them?

Re: WPF-what now

hmmm... That is a tough question.

I really don't think there is a ton of difference, other than the UPCI is a much larger organization.

Some will say the WPF is more conservative in regards to dress standards, television, etc.. However, I've seen conservative and "liberal" churches in both organizations.

As far as ordination process. Last I knew, the UPCI has a very rigid process where you apply with the blessing of your pastor. You then go before a district board and answer questions about anything from doctrinal issues to your personal life and/or marriage.

So far, the WPF does not "ordain" ministers. However, you can apply for ministerial membership again with the blessing of your Pastor and $60

GIB stands for good independent brother... so that should speak for itself

Re: WPF-what now

IF Pastor Anthony Mangun was to take over the job of Superintendent or BISHOP of the UCPI I believe that things would have turned out way different. I don't think many ones that left would have and still there are some that would have. MANY people thru the ages have asked Pastor ANTHONY MANGUN why he won't or would he ever. I remember the first time THE POA came to CALVARY UPCI in Chicago where Danny Willis has a Church and we were on the WEST SUBS, but their CHOIR came and it was really something . I wished back then that he would have taken it. He surely has enough years now under his belt to be a great leader just by looking at their CHURCH they are a mega church in the UPCi. Not many people can say that.

Re: WPF-what now

So tell me, how do they feel about having Kenny Carpenter (Who uses TV) preaching a large meeting for Nate Wilson?

Is it true that some in the WPF think Nate is going liberal?

How will this effect a org that was formed on no TV?

Nate Wilson is not the Pastor.

TRC is on the left leaning side of the WPF to be sure, but I don't ever foresee them going the way of the UPCi. I could be wrong.

True, he is not the pastor but it is still influenced by him... isn't he the Bishop?
