Anointing

Random thoughts today.

What is the anointing? How do you define it? Is it only for the ministry?

Samson didn't know when the anointing had left him.

Saul tried to recreate it after losing the anointing.

David was anointed in the midst of his brethren, and never forgot what that felt like.

GOOD QUESTION.

Perhaps another question would be:
ARE THERE OTHER TYPES OF ANOINTNG?

(1) One anointing is receiving the Holy Spirit;
(2) it could also be defined as virtue from the Lord to man, and believer to...?
(3) It's for everyone who believes and *will obey.

It's my contention that there are some who are anointed *before they obey;
while some are just called to fulfill God's Word in some capacity (ie: Lucifer,
and then there's Judas Iscariot).

If we have His Spirt we are annointed.

Saul, Sampson and David were annointed for specific times and purposes but that annointing did not involve a constant indwelling of His Spirit but just that His Spirit rested upon whom it had annointed.

We cannont compare Old Testament annointings with New Testament annointings because His Spirit abides within us and stays instead of coming and leaving as it does with Old Testament figures.

That is the reason why Jesus said that there is no greater man born of woman than John the Baptist but the least in the Kingdom is greater than he.

All the OT prophets up to John the Baptist pointed ahead to Christ and said,"Hes coming!"

John the Baptist said,"He's here!" but He also had to say "There He goes."

As believers we never have to say,"There He goes because He abides."

Brother Villa
you bring up another interesting point, that results in another question. The bible calls Judas the "son of Perdition", which if memory serves me, basically means "son of hell". Was Judas predestined to betray Christ, die and then go to hell? Did Judas have a space of repentance? Was Judas an actual 'child' conceived by hell?

Neither Lucifer nor Judas (Iscariot) were "conceived" in hell. But both
were created for a purpose, Lucifer, to condemn iniquity and sin; Judas
(Iscariot), to betray the son of God.

A saint could not be used, but they who would eventually be lost.

Re: Anointing

I believe that the "anointing" is the power and authority of God that flows through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Re: Anointing

The word "anointing" only appears in the NT 3 times. Why is that ?
