I am a firm believer in the Old Paths

Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945

Yeah I was never able to make the transition into a "typical" Apostolic Pentecostal Church. However I am grateful to them for the teaching they gave me backed by Gods word on the Oneness message and the new birth.

Are YOU serious unitedpraise? You really think that the only way to worship God is the Pentecostal way? Yeah, I know you didn't "say" that, but your reaction to the video of Lutheran worship did. And as for the Mormon choir being a performance, how is Pentecostal worship not a performance? I don't understand or agree with Mormon doctrine, but the Mormons that believe it are still worshipping God in the way they know how.

I don't believe waving smoke in people's faces is worship on any level. It's merely symbolism. Furthermore, I did not state the we are the only way.

No you didn't, but your reactions and comparisons seem to imply that.

It's symbolism TO YOU. You can't know what's in the heart of people doing that, and the intent of the heart is what defines what equals "worship" and what doesn't in my opinion.

Why does it seem like there worship is much more sincere than ours? I think that our natural apostolic judgmental spirit might have something to do with it.

What are your thoughts.....?!?!?!?! No pun intended...

BTW...I am always a little hesitant before I post a new thread! lol...it took me a couple of minutes to finally press the 'Submit New Thread' button. haha
I've actually thought the exact opposite most of the times I have seen or experienced worship services in other than Apostolic environments.

Really?
It's always nice to see kids having a "good time" in church... but...

That was kind of painful to watch.

Exodus 30:1 and Exodus 30:6-8. You shall put it (incense) "where I will meet with thee."

In the NT period, incense does take on a "symbolic" role: Revelation 5:8 and Revelation 8:3-4.

However, we use many "cues" and symbols in our services. There are many things that we do whereby a "symbol" is given to cue the people to act in some way or manner of worship.

In the Pentecostal movement we have tended to remove these cues and symbols because we felt that they were being used as substitutes for "the real thing" at times. That may have been true, but it does not invalidate the use of Biblical symbols in worship. IMHO, anyway.

One could ask if our newer "cues" and symbols aren't becoming an "idol" in the same manner that some of the symbols of the ancient church had become.

Hmmm... Cues...

Smooth baby faces a "cue" of male Christian maturity.

Demonstration of emotionalism a "cue" of righteousness and worship.
