1 John's message - GOD COME IN FLESH

Although not the deepest, 1 John seems to be the hardest to comprehensibly follow, due to John's extremely spiritual language. But go to the rest of the bible and it all comes together.

I was blessed to notice this thought in 1 John: (Note: This is not about prophecy, although I mention ANTICHRIST from 1 John. I don't think we should always think of prophecy when we read the term ANTICHRIST. I believe this thought below proves that antichrist is not always a prophecy issue.)

Quote:
1 John 1:1-3 KJV That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (2) (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us; ) (3) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
John emphasizes the MANIFESTATION of God in the physical. He said he saw, heard and physically handled the Word of Life. And this is none other than God, Himself, since John borrowed a phrase from Gen 1:1 saying "That which was from the beginning". God was in the beginning.

And John's desire is to see the "little children" stand solidly on the fact that God manifested in flesh, due to antichrists saying Jesus is not come in the flesh.

Such hard-to-be-understood phrases in 1 John begin to be more easily understood once we know this is the point John was making.

Chapter 2 speaks about loving each other in order to say we love God, because this visible love indicates God indeed is influencing us, and that can only occur if we truly are in touch with God, or KNOW Him.

Quote:
1 John 2:3 KJV And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
Then John speaks of the entire spirit and make-up of the world:

Quote:
1 John 2:15-17 KJV Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
The entirety of the world is the threefold spirit of lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. And the world will pass away due to this essential comprisal of the world.

Adam and Eve were confronted with the forbidden fruit. That fruit had one ingredient that lacked in all the other fruit in the world, but held two elements that all the other fruit possessed as well.

ALL FRUIT:

Quote:
Genesis 2:9 KJV And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
FORBIDDEN FRUIT:

Quote:
Genesis 3:6 KJV And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
The first two elements in the forbidden fruit were in all the other fruit. But the third element was not -- "desire to make one wise" - and was the killer. It is the "pride of life" that John spoke about.

This prideful element affected the first two elements and twisted them. "Good for food" became "lust of the flesh". "Pleasant to the sight" became "lust of the eyes".

The forbidden fruit had the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life. But since Adam ate this fruit, the ENTIRE "WORLD" became filled with those three things. So John said the all that is in the world is the lust of eyes, lust of flesh and pride of life.

So the spirit of the world possessing these three elements was said to pass away, just as Adam was told he would die if he ingested the forbidden fruit.

COMPARE:

Quote:
Genesis 2:17 KJV But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Adam would live forever had he eaten instead of the fruit of life, just as John said, "he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever".

Quote:
Genesis 3:22 KJV And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

So we have the spirit of the world manifested as "lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life." And this is in opposition to the Spirit of God that was also manifested in flesh as Jesus Christ, and, as John comes to say later in chapter 4, in our lives.

Antichrist was said to come, and the readers of 1 John knew it was to come. John informed them that it had already come in their day, 2000 years ago. He says this antichrist that was to come was a SPIRIT in chapter 4.

Quote:
1 John 2:18 KJV Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1 John 4:3 KJV And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
One spirit, but many people acting in that spirit.

And this is where things get wonderful!

Quote:
1 John 2:19-20 KJV They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. (20) But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
Notice how John contrasted the antichrists who went OUT FROM the church? He contrasted them with the readers of his epistle WHO HAVE AN UNCTION FROM THE HOLY ONE.

What is an unction?

It comes from the same word ANOINTING, which literally meant a smearing of oil upon a person. It is a special endowment. In this case, the UNCTION or ANOINTING is the INFLUENCE OF GOD UPON FLESH. This influence is a MANIFESTATION OF GOD that FLESH can experience. This brings us to why John contrasted the antichrists with the church members who have an "unction". Antichrist denies GOD MANIFESTS IN FLESH.

Quote:
1 John 4:3 KJV And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
The reason those who became antichrists were FROM the church, is because they once proposed Jesus/God came/manifested in flesh, but ceased proposing this truth. They lost the faith. They denied he came in flesh. But the ones who HAD AN UNCTION were people who KNEW GOD WAS MANIFESTED IN FLESH since the UNCTION was a form of God manifesting in THEIR FLESH! When you have an unction, or anointing, you have a direct influence of God's Spirit upon and in YOUR FLESH!

So John spoke of these ones who denied God manifests in flesh and contrasted them with the believers who HAVE AN UNCTION.

In other words, THE BELIEVERS KNOW BETTER than what the antichrists were saying! They KNOW Jesus manifests in flesh because THEIR UNCTION was living proof that God manifests in flesh!

Quote:
1 John 2:20-21 KJV But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. (21) I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
John said the believers KNEW THE TRUTH! What truth? The truth regarding God manifesting. They KNEW God manifested in flesh by their own experience of UNCTION. If God can influence their flesh in the manner of giving an UNCTION to people, then by the same token God indeed was manifest and come in the flesh as Jesus Christ!

And this absolutely and clearly explains, in my opinion, this hard-to-be-understood passage as follows:

Quote:
1 John 2:27 KJV But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
John is not saying Christians do not need teachers. He is simply speaking IN CONTEXT of the false idea that antichrists were teaching others, saying, "Jesus is not come in the flesh." Antichrists who left the church were saying God does not manifest in flesh. But the TRUE CHRISTIANS did not need anyone to teach them anything about whether or not God manifests in flesh. THEY HAD THE UNCTION. They had the ANOINTING. They KNEW God was manifesting in flesh through their own experience of UNCTION and ANOINTING. THAT is what John was referring to in saying they had no need that any man teach them. It was regarding teaching specifically about GOD MANIFESTING IN FLESH.

Praise God!

If you have experienced UNCTION and ANOINTING, then no antichrist can ever get off telling you that God does not manifest in flesh!

This is the reason John began the epistle stressing GOD'S MANIFESTATION so much!

Quote:
1 John 1:1 KJV That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
And when we come to chapter 4, we read how God has not been seen by any man.

Notice how he couples that thought with Christians loving one another:

Quote:
1 John 4:12 KJV No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
He spoke of the antichrist spirit that denies Jesus came in flesh. And then he says this about God being seen. No person has ever seen God. God was manifest IN flesh, but one could not say flesh WAS GOD, since people saw the flesh of Jesus and John still insisted no man saw God at any time. And John then adds the thought about us loving one another.

If we love one another, THE GOD WHOM NO MAN HAS EVER SEEN, ABIDES IN OUR FLESH!

The only way we can love one another like this, is to have GOD INFLUENCE OUR FLESH AND BE IN OUR FLESH. This is GOD MANIFESTING IN FLESH! It's as much a manifestation of God as is the incarnation as Jesus Christ, but the difference is that our person is not God, while Jesus' person is God.

HIS LOVE is perfected IN US! Something of God is IN FLESH!

Quote:
1 John 4:13 KJV Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
God has given us "OF HIS SPIRIT" when we have HIM IN US and we love one another because of His presence in us! We have SOMETHING OF GOD IN OUR FLESH!

So if we want to defeat the spirit of antichrist, of which the whole world is comprised, and prove it's lies to be lies, THEN LET US LOVE ONE ANOTHER! It proves the lie that says God is not come in flesh to be wrong every time! If God is not manifest in flesh, then HOW ARE MANY BELIEVERS ABLE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER????? It can only be that GOD MANIFESTS IN FLESH!

All this goes back to the garden of Eden.

The fruit of the knowledge of good and evil led to the threefold spirit of the world: lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

That FRUIT was AGAINST, or an ALTERNATIVE TO, the fruit of life! It was satan's will for man, whereas God's will was the fruit of life. That which is AGAINST, or is an ALTERNATIVE for something else is literally "anti". That is what "anti" means. So we see the spirit of antichrist first present in the forbidden fruit. And since man devoured this fruit, the WORLD became filled with the spirit of antichrist. And that is why the world will pass away.

One can have a very religious "Knowledge of good and evil". It is so successful in replacing Life because it sounds so religious! "Know what is good and knwo what is evil and MAKE YOURSELF RIGHTEOUS!"

Unfortunately, many believers today nibble from the forbidden fruit rather than allow GOD'S LIFE to manifest in their flesh and CHANGE THEM! (Think on that one!)

Now that we know the SPIRIT OF THE WORLD manifested as lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life is actually the spirit of ANTICHRIST, we can better understand this passage:

Quote:
1 John 4:4 KJV Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
The Spirit of God in us is GREATER than the lying spirit of the world because OUR POSSESSION OF THAT SPIRIT OF GOD overcomes the lie that God cannot manifest in flesh. God IS manifesting in our flesh, if His Spirit is in us! If we have the anointing and unction of the Spirit of God in our flesh, then it defeats the spirit of antichrist that lies and says God did not come in the flesh.
