The shooter was killed be a civilian policeman. A military guy in an interview on Fox said the shooter was openly against the war, fighting his own deployment, and had said that "Muslims have the right to rise up" - the guy being interviewed by Shep Smith said there had been an investigation already about this guy.
The shooter is not dead. He is wounded and alive. He was apparently shot by a female first responder. And they are not ruling out that he is a terrorist.
Yeah, saw the press conference a little while ago. The female police officer was apparently killed in the exchange, but she knocked him down. He's had at least one CID guy at his side ever since.

Fox is repeatly saying the Major that shot and killed 12 people and
wounded 31, is indeed alive in an area hospital and in stable condition.
That the female officer, (First responder who shot the Major) is also
alive and in stable condition, in an area hospital. They are saying this
right now!
